Ugg Wharf! I was talking to a friend in the Bay area last night, she said temps were about 20 degrees above normal there :(

Our yard is like a big pond Dee. I told Katie she's gonna have to get some pro advice on the basement. Every time this happens, it's just eroding more of the concrete where the cracks are, and making the leaks worse. I was doing the basement until 4am...she got up around 6am, then woke me at 8am. Why? Because her bank statement came in and she HAD to balance her checkbook...right now!

Sorry, I'm a tad cranky...also dealing with Chase's upset tummy because someone fed him KFC Extra Crispy fried chicken  The usual eternal optimist is feeling whooped today!

She needs to have it drilled and have hydraulic cement pumped in or chip it out then pound hydraulic cement in there. It expands as it cures. We did that on our basement. Luckily for us my daughters husband is a journeyman Mason.

Yes 5, that's what needs to be done. She actually told me we could get some estimates on the cost. What concerns me the most are the cracks that are appearing across the middle of the cement floor, and they are getting longer. I'm not builder, or mason, but that tells me that if she doesn't have something done, it might pose stability issues to the house itself. I'm not very familiar with homes built over basements. Most of my feeble knowledge is of slab foundations or pier and beam.

I'm fully aware that I was a raving biotch earlier, please forgive my ranting  It saves Katie when I can blow off steam here, that way I don't explode all over her!

Thankfully Fran, we didn't get any more rain here either! The sun came out and it's a steamy 70.

I wouldn't worry about the stability as much as the leaking. There's rebar in that cement holding it all together. She should get an estimate on that too. Might as well get it all done at once.
Also I'm a good person to dump on should the situation arise again. I'd rather get it than Katie.

Yeah, I try not to lash out at her...and I try to remind myself of her age. It's just very frustrating that she wants to spend money to make things pretty, instead of fixing serious stuff.

I guess after thinking about it, a house with a basement is not much different than pier and beam, set on top of a hole in the ground.
