mod, do you think you could limp by with my old Nvidia 285gtx? I doubt it'll run your games full tilt, but if you need it let me know. I hope you win the 660ti contest!

Dee, what a great score on the Ranger STX! Craig's List scares me, my luck all I'd score is a psycho! Been there, just got rid of one  And for you, I would pump a little Black Sabbath!
Thanks but I should be able to get a new card in the couple weeks (hopefully). I got it somewhat stable by switching to the Windows Classic theme (a.k.a win95/98). It still locks up from time to time but not as frequently as before. The next step is to downclock it if it gets too annoying. It runs my games fine but locks up when I'm just browsing the net. Very odd.

I've been unlucky with winning a new gfx card but I did win a new case, cpu cooler, 2 keyboards, a 850w modular PSU ($300 MSRP), 3 140mm case fans, 2 mouse pads and few other small random items over the course of the year. I have a new closed loop water cooler for my cpu coming to. I got it free for being a member of Cooler Masters advisory panel. I can't complain too much. lol

Ahh yeah Mod...the oc'ing would have been the first thing I backed down on if it's become unstable...but you know more about that than I do ;) I can't push my clock speed over 1100 on my 650ti, it crashes my graphics driver. I'm using an nvidia beta driver tho, not a certified release.

Morning all!!
The sad thing is that it's not overclocked. It's running bone stock. lol

Oh! That is a problem then :( When my driver crashes, it downclocks mine to an infuriating 358! That's way below it's 7whatever stock speed. That's like "I not doing nothing but letting you see your desktop" speed!

Yes Ma'am Frannie, rain here.

I can change my settings very easy and do because when I'm doing 3D graphics it will act up sometimes. I went with a workstation card and I love being able to change it from global to gaming or graphics. My next thing is another SSD because my hdd is holding my PC rating at 7.5 because of data transfer. Everything else is way past 7.5 but the hdd data transfer speed causes a bottleneck. That's probably why I am plagued by the dreaded ECF slow speed syndrome. 3 tb. gives a lot of space but doesn't do a thing for speed.

Yea, it's pretty crappy. lol I read that if you underclock it as little as 20Mhz it can help with the lock ups. I haven't tried it yet tho.

A workstation card. Wow, you must have spent a pretty penny for that.

Not really, I got a used one someone was selling and it's not the biggest one made but it does what I need. I kept looking at gamming cards and then after researching I found out a workstation card was better for doing graphics. They sure give you more control on your card though.
