Morning Fran. I got one a couple yrs. ago from your side of the country for $.80 . They usually run a little one to find out if they can then a big one or more. I was surprised my bank caught it that fast. Now I have one card just for the internet that only has a couple bucks in it until I make a purchase.

Ugh Fran, but at least it was caught!

Dee, glad you didn't have to hunt all over for your flooring. Spike's taste for high quality water made me laugh! I'm loving the idea of you building a worm farm, great idea for extra cash, as well as enhancing your own gardening needs :)

Morning all..rainy here, but so far I'm smiling!

I do as 5 does with the online card....Only I keep a minimum balance with my debit card...Deposit only what is needed...No local use...Cash is King....

Several years ago an old friend started a worm farm with the intention of selling only fishing worms...I was pretty dang sure he'd lost his mind...He never did sell any worms...I'm only getting the ball rolling with a Worm Farm 360...a small unit...Castings are like black gold...I also envision true organically grown tomatoes and such...first you gotta have castings...

Oh Fran I'm sorry about the cc, but happy that Citi caught it right away!

I like the idea of the worm farm too ElDee! Very cool!

Bov, I'm smiling too! Maddie woke up with yet another tummy bug and fever, but I do believe this one has exited her system already. She's been keeping down food and ginger ale this afternoon, and the fever broke.

Worm Farm huh LD? Up here there are people that sell worms. You can get them in the sports stores and even in some of the super markets. If you get people liking them and the word gets out you have a money maker. Nice if you could get contracts with a chain like Sports Authority or someone like that but you would need a lot more beds.
    Best of luck my friend.

True, old school heirloom veggies sound great!

Dang Tracy, poor Maddie :( Did you talk to your new Dr about how often she gets these bugs? Glad this one was short lived!

I don't have a cc anymore, altho I took responsibility for the humongous debt on it in the divorce since it's an account I had twice as long as the ex. Best thing I ever did was start using pre paid cards to shop online, and I started doing that before the real card got shut down.

    Bov,

I haven't updated enough to let you all know but the "new doc" is now the "never again will see doc". He wanted me to take her to the ER at one point which would have traumatized the heck out of her and I refused. I then took her to "the Dr Is In" and got the meds that she needed to get better, the very ones he was withholding and wanted yet more tests. Um, no thanks doc but you will take me straight to the poorhouse with your form of treatment.

Her doc is back since the 21st of April although we haven't needed to see him.

As for how often Maddie gets sick......it's called "protected child syndrome". NO, I am not at all sure if that's a real term for it, but it's one that I just made up. Simply put, it's my own fault for keeping her away from anyone and everyone who so much as sneezed during her babyhood. Honestly, her teacher said she and another little girl are her sickest students this year and both did not attend day cares or preschool, but went straight into kindergarten. Kids who are exposed to illnesses develop a resistance or tolerance to germs. Maddie and this other little "parent protected" child are now playing catch up if you will. lol We are hoping that next school year is kinder to these little girls as they sure have had it rough this year!

So as much as I complain about her getting sick, it's my own fault for not subjecting her to it earlier and having her immune system better built to resist it now.

Teacher says it's really been a tough year all around though and she hasn't had a full class in a while now!

The good news is that it really was a quickie belly bug. Fevers all gone since 9 this am and she's eating really well and keeping it all down. Yay!

908 I feel your protected child syndrome is an accurate assumption...Mom was a longtime Kindergarten teacher...Germs are a dang good and plenty in kindergarten...Mom never got sick...It ill work itself out...I feel any attempts at boosting immunity should be done with diet only....no bottled sheet!!! Maddie is just a kid and I'm sure she wouldn't enjoy organic broccoli prepared 10,000 different ways every meal...That Doc coming in with guns ahhhh blazin' threw me from the git go....I believe you made the correct choice in avoiding him...Less is better IMO.....Dr. Feelgood

Never did get around to calling my worm connection...I'll try again tomorrow...I did cut a sheet load of grass and prep the casting containers.....

I agree with Tracy.. when something attacks our body, our body makes a specific antibody to fight it. The more we're exposed to, the more specific antbodies we devlop.

The other factor is everbody's immune system are not the same. Two people with the same buildup of antibodies, one (your Mom) will fight off those attacks better than another (Mrs Wharf).

The worst thing ever to come out is antibacterial sanitizers and soaps. They kill 96% off all bateria, including good bateria that we need. But more impotantly, what's left is super bateria that can't be killed. And that's much worse than the mix of good and bad we are normally exposed to.

I think you did the right thing and are on the right track. My daughter (adult) is ill right now too. Very ill and she gets that way almost every yr. I've never seen anyone that gets as ill as her from pollen. Not just sinuses. She gets sick everywhere from it. Kids are not a one size fits all and some get sicker than others. It's just life. Some docs though like to use that to further their study in medicine. I think that doc was probably more concerned with furthering his study of medicine than he was her well being. IMO
