Hey 5c or anyone, the cooling fan in our laptop has started to get louder. We were able to get some oil to it w/o making a mess was able to get disassemble and get a syringe and small needle to it. This fixed it but after a couple of weeks it has come back. Is the only long lasting fix a new fan @ $40 (Asus G72g ) or is there something else we could try. TIA

Bovinia is right. Oil is not a good thing because it just collects more dust. I pull the cover off then put something small in them to keep them from turning while I use my vacuum hose to clean them out on the tough ones. That little vent tube can get filthy. Here's one for $15.00 if your is toast. Genuine New Asus K72JB K72JK K72Jr K72JT K72JU K72F Laptop CPU Cooling Fan. They usually just quit if they're bad and a cleaning should fix it.

PS: If you use the vacuum like I spoke of make sure you keep the fan from turning. They aren't meant to go that fast and it could cause it harm. Just hold it with a pin or something. I used to use the canned air but it didn't get the tough ones clean.
