See how much I know about the bike rallies Dee? Squat! I just assumed (uh huh) that the Smoke Out was where Jack was headed, I saw where George had t-shirts made for it. Pity about the rain.

Thank you 5'er, for the compliment and the offer! I had to ask Terri to send me another 510 cap. My beta BP loaner has gone MIA (knew it would sooner or later) and I had put my other 510 top cap on it for the last borrower..cough, Jack, cough  I'll drop him a FB message, but he's been so busy with all the bike rallies it's no telling how long it'll take him to return it.

I got in the pool today, I got in the pool!!!! hahaha Considering it's been up for almost a month already, you can understand my excitement! Aaaah it felt great floating around on the raft catching some of those nice warm rays!!! Had a blast playing with Maddie and trying to teach her how to swim. (recapping what we learned from last year) She still wears her "floatie" as she cannot touch bottom yet.

I bought two tomato plants, and a beautiful Hibiscus. If anyone has any pointers about the hibiscus, I am all ears! I am planning to keep it in a large (eventually) container, not plant it in the ground. The guy where I bought it said not to put it into a large pot for awhile, they like to go in steps. If it's in a 2 gallon container, only go up to a 3. I don't freakin' get it??? What about those who plant it in the ground for goodness sakes?? Either I am having yet another blonde moment (which wouldn't surprise me in the least! haha) or he's an idiot. Enlighten me.

Tomorrow is going to be another nice day, and I want to get out there again and enjoy it. (if this burn turns to tan that is) ;)

Have a great night all!!! (((huggerzzz)))

It was a gorgeous day for the pool Tracy! As for the hibiscus, it won't survive our winters up here. I could grow them as perennials in central Florida, but they won't take a freeze. The reason you step them up in pot size slowly is to keep them somewhat root bound or they won't bloom. They will want to put all their energy into growing roots if they have too much space to explore :) You likely can over winter it in a nicely lit spot in the house.

I'm jealous Tracy. When I was youner everywhere I lived had a pool and I hardley ever used it but it would be nice now. I talked to my daughter about putting one in a few weeks ago but that's as far as it went.

Sash, you need several days of a nice soft pitter patter rain so it soaks in :) Whatever Tracy and Fran say their weather is going to be, is the same as mine. Summer sat down on us hard today, it feels like an oven outside.

Ha Wharf! I won't deny that it's great not having to get up at the crack of dawn and fight traffic to get to work. Yall never even know when I still have my PJs on

This weekend was the holes for the deck piers. Should have been three 10" on 20" pads, nominal 42" deep. Yeah, right...

Reality. This is a flood plain. House is set back over 100', in a local high spot, but ...

Anywho, went for the one man auger, largest bit for it was 8". Deepest hole was about 36" before hitting mud.

End of the day I did a row of 5 piers, relatively shallow, plus three on the house side. There's a good pad where the present staircase is that I'll use to pick up more support. It turns out that the existing porch is held up by a steel truss system on a couple of monster piers, set back, nothing I could use for a ledger board.

Awful weather for this work. 90, really high humidity, lot of sun. Auger was better than doing the bulk work by hand, but a lot of work in those conditions, and a boatload of roots to contend with.

I was pretty tired yesterday, and spent when I finished today at noon. Taking it easy tonight :)

hahaha I didn't shower until 8 last night!!! Wasn't my jammies though, it was pool attire! That shower felt amazing let me tell ya!!!
I'm with ya ladies!!!

Yes Bov, I couldn't handle being outside for very long at all today. Enough to water all the plants, and make some homemade burgers on the grill, then ducked right back into the ac!!! Too friggin' hot unless you are in water!!!

Mark, please take it easy out there in this heat!

You guys are so lucky to have us mother hens watching over you! Please take it easy in this oppressive heat...I just gave the mother hen concern to someone else earlier today :) Glad you took half a day off to recoup, Mark. Sounds like the deck is going to take more than you expected to get built.

5'er you weren't supposed to give me away about skype!! Those peep shows aren't free for everyone ;)

Sash, I won't tell anyone you're still in your jammies if you don't tell anyone that I don't sleep in any
