This defies the odds ... what am I doing wrong?

About a month ago, I bought an Ego T kit. Wanted nothing to do with cartomizers or filler - been there, done that a couple of years ago(poorly). The tank system seemed the perfect answer. A stainless steel atty came with the starter kit and I ordered a spare. Made the fatal error of trying to clean one of them and totally killed it but both stainless steel ones vaped fantastic - great TH and awesome flavor. For several reasons, I now have 3 black atties from one vendor and three from my original supplier including one LR atty he gifted me to try. I should be off to the races, right? Wrong! NONE, and I do mean, none of these atties give me anything but vapor and horrible taste. They are well past any primer residue stage. Occasionally I will get a couple of good vapes where I can actually taste the flavor I have in my tank but 98% of the time I am just getting a nasty 'burnt' taste and lots of vapor (most of the time). It has to be statistically impossible to have that many bad atties so I MUST be doing something wrong. But I'll be damned if I can figure out what that would be. Even the LR atty is doing this. Is there any way it could be the batteries (650 Mah both)?

I am ready to chuck them all and try something like clearomizers but sure would like to know if anyone has any suggestions about these? There is not a whole lot of 'pop and sizzle' in any of these atties (not like the stainless steel ones where, when I hit the button, you could hear that sizzle happen!). I've started snaffling my better half's cigs as I simply cannot take the horrible taste from these things. It's like getting dry hits every time! Flavor is a big deal to me and I swear to God that I don't even know what liquid is in any of the tanks because none of them taste like anything except nasty burnt.

Thanks for any tips. Am thinking about SmokeTech cartomizers though as have heard many good things about them even though I swore I would stay far away from filler-type gizmos again. And I really can't see myself constantly dripping - just looking for something that works like this did that first couple of weeks.

Thanks for the advice, Switched. I only wrecked one atomizer - gotta be some sort of record for me! Pushed the wick too far on one. The others, while still not optimum (although the LR atty is SO much better now!) are at least vapable and I can now tell one flavor from the next although they are still somewhat muted. However, they are all a huge improvement over what they were! I have a different flavor tank on each atty so that I don't mix and match.

Tersur - thanks also for your suggestion. Funds are just too short to experiment any more until into the new year but will keep this in mind. Have been seeing a lot of posts on these things. Still don't quite understand them but, then again, I haven't been focusing on them. Like I said ... after the new year, we'll see what changes come around to increase the whole vaping experience. For now, I am just relieved to have functional atties again. Keeping fingers crossed that they will keep me going until I can afford to make the change to something else. Have been strongly thinking of the Smoketech clear cartomizers but we'll see ...
