Slap this up on top of it.

This was posted just outside my organization, just after I started vaping. The information doesn't make sense, but I can't pinpoint how inaccurate the information is. All I can feel is a slap in the face that I'm being singled out. There is NO ANTISMOKING PROPAGANDA anywhere in the building.

Explain that to customs. Because HC has ruled that nicotine falls under their jurisdiction, they've pretty much dictated how e-cigarettes are treated in Canada.

Problem is, nobody with deep enough pockets has challenged it in the courts.

Exactly, nobody has challenged Health Canada in court. Health Canada may well have the authority to advise Canada Customs to refuse a shipment I have not investigated that. They do not have the authority to legislate and it is legal in Canada to sell vapes or liquids that have nicotine in them.

Regardless my post and this thread are not about importing nicotine. I expect it is illegal for Alberta Health Services or any other publicly funded government arm to make false statements of this nature. If not illegal certainly embarrassing for them. Governments do not tolerate public embarrassment.

The Minister is Sarah Hoffman (ND)
Legislative Assembly of Alberta

I will be writing her a letter. :w00t:
I suggest especially Alberta residents do the same.

Thank you for the link, I don't know what to write though, I'm not very good at them and scared I'll do more damage than good.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt "off" by this. I knew this was wrong in a number of ways, but I didn't have enough information, as I'm still a new vaper, but I knew eliquids and vaping couldn't be banned because you CANNOT be harrassed, arrested, or have your supplies confiscated, regardless if they have nicotine or not. They can, however - be seized by customs if there is nicotine in the eliquid (even if it's 0mg) if shipped from out of country. I also knew a lot of the information just seemed wrong and inflated to suit their own desires. I did look around the building, and it is a Mental Health building - however - there was still no sign of anti-smoking campaigns anywhere, other than "ways to quit" pamphlets on the second floor which is addictions - which is where this poster SHOULD HAVE BEEN POSTED. Will children see the poster? Probably not, will parents? A large majority of our members smoke - so all I see this as just fear mongering. They have since "moved" the poster next to the elevator, but that's still not where it belongs - and it's full of inaccurate information.

Do the d**m research! Get your facts straight, leave me alone. We go to our program because we have enough of our own issues to deal with, I don't need to fight a war and risk losing my mind because they want to get uppity.

Why isn't there a poster advising parents to restrict excessive sugar in their children's diets, especially breakfast cereals, containing 35% sugar or more, targeted specifically at children and advertised to them?

I guess a 10% type 2 diabetes rate is less concerning than what might be wrong with vaping (but too soon to know...) .....
This

And heart disease...

But it's "GRAS" and completely unregulated.

Actually I like the part that recommends parents learn all they can about vaping. It's ignorance that's the enemy. The more they know, the less concerned they'll be.
The poster authors know that after "learning about vaping" 99% of parents will conclude it's worse than smoking .

More on this later...

You mean this tasty bit "Learn all you can about e-cigarettes so you know what they look like".
No need just mention nicotine "is off limits and include these substances in your household "no tolerance" policy" :w00t::lol::lol:
