The amount of ignorance I see among vapers is astonishing sometimes. I see it all over the forum and at my local shops. I'm sure I'm not making many friends in saying this.
But I see all sorts of debates about what metal is better for connections and voltage drop, etc. and don't get me started on people talking about batteries. Now, I'm no expert my self. I had to study electronics and specifically battery chemistry and ask lots of electricians information but it became really clear there is an absurd amount of misinformation floating as facts from self-styled experts in the community. If you don't know, don't pretend.
What flavors are best and what mixture of VG to PG is best are all opinions, we can debate these all day long. But what metals are better and conductivity is absolute, there is an objective answer. Voltage drop is relative to the atty used and at what resistance, I keep seeing all sorts of people say that their stainless steel tube only gets a .3 drop, etc. yet it's very clear from that statement they don't understand the principles involved. There's a reason wiring is made from copper.
Again, I make no claim to being an expert, but I wouldn't present myself as such when answering a question either.
In fact, the reason I made an account and posting here is because it drove me insane to read some of the hearsay misinformation that gets posted and then accepted on some of the threads here.
Since this is in the newbie section, I would just like to caution everyone here against accepting answers on the board or from anyone in the community as fact. As a debater I have seen how easy it is to convince someone of falsehood by simply sounding authoritative. Just because someone on here sounds certain and confident or even what they say makes sense, still do the research.
As fun as vaping is and can be, it can also be dangerous and expensive and it's best to know.
