The FDA and Big pharma are pulling out all the stops now....calling in their favors. They either felt they could lose the court appeal, or they are going for the knockout punch. I think it is the latter since I always felt they would prevail on the appeal. We got lucky with Judge Leon....he wasn't bought and paid for like most other judges.

The FDA will win the appeal and the ALA will take that win and the list of all those organizations back to the state governments for even more ban attempts. I also think we will lose in New York and I fear that will start a cascade effect. We have won a few battles, but without a coherent offensive strategy, some big names and some big money....we are going to lose the war eventually.

Make appointments and try to meet with your state governors and all the reps., I guess, and get friends and relatives to vote for vaper friendly people.

Letters and emails are getting canned replies or being ignored when they matter. It is stated up in the e-cig news subforum (by the link above), or somewhere, not to stop writing and e-mailing, but I think calling for appointments and personal talks are definitely needed urgently.

How many times have you gotten your governor to take a meeting and have a discussion with you personally? And how many hundreds of thousands of dollars did that cost?

If the governor of California had to do that, he would have to work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, take no bio-breaks, and would still need to meet with two people every second, assuming his constituents only wanted to bend his ear once a year.

That's just a silly statement.

How by what measure are you stating that snail-mail letters are being ignored? How did you derive that?

I despise misinformation. It irritates me.

I agree wholeheartedly. We are running out of time and if we can't get some big names and money, we're definitely going to lose. I wonder if any of the e-cig manufacturers have hired any lawyers or come together as a group publicly. That might call more attention to the benefits of the product and bring people and resources over to our side.

I think Gamuchi had a lawyer when they met in Illinois, but that is the only occasion and lawyer I've heard about. Gamuchi is in the UK, I believe, but I'm not sure.

Many Illinois vapers went to the Ilinois meeting from what I understand, but I think the meetings in NY are closed and people can only go IF they're INVITED. THis I understood from the subforum where your linked thread above is. This post:

Do any of you realize just HOW much money the Heart and Stroke Foundations make on just 'memorial' donations? Almost 40% of their INCOME comes from those neat little 'in lieu of flowers, Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Mr. -----'s name would be appreciated'

That's why, when MY father died, we asked for donations to be made in HIS name to the Society For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Let them get their BLOOD money from someone else. My father NEVER smoked. But, he DID have a sudden heart attack.

As a paramedic, even I'M well versed in the anatomy of the heart and it's surrounding tissues. I have the level of training that allows us to do 'mobile tamponades', which is essentially 'decompressing' the sac surrounding the heart in a trauma related injury.

SO, how much more RESEARCH do we NEED here? If WE know how the HEART and LUNGS work, WTF are they LOOKING for?

BLOOD MONEY...OURS.

We need someone to stand up and speak for us in a public way..I dont think the emails, snail mails and calling are going to be enuff.

We need the big e cigarette companys and all suppliers and all the fourm members here at ECF to get together...Get people thats in higher office's involved...also celebritie's and rockstars that use ecig's need to be involved..Everyone meet outside the white house...We can all stand up for our rights as americans this would also draw attention from the media..let every american know..How the FDA is getting laws passed to take away our freedoms..One law at a time..Im not saying that every law thats passed is bad...I think we as americans should have more say in which laws are passed....It should never be this easy for the FDA to get a law passed or any other goverment agency for that matter..without more public involment and input..WE ARE NOT CHILDREN...I remember when obama ran for the office of president he said he was going to be more in touch with the people of america and give america back to the people and let us be more involed when laws like these are passed ....well here's his chance to keep his promise...Go to this website and find and use any tool you can on there to reach out to him about this subject...The White House

We need to make a stand now..Anyone should understand why the FDA is doing this..Its money and greed ...plain and simple.

I hate to be negative. But "we" will NEVER have enough big names or money to over power the long existing government and corporate ties that want our little vapor treats squashed. It's just the way it is. I'm not saying don't try, just seriously here, be realistic.

To be fair....there are some people in that other thread who don't feel this development is as bad as it sounds...and everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, it would be a mistake to compare tactics and outcome of the Illinois fight....and this one. The FDA and those organizations are not elected officials. They don't really care about public opinion, particularly an extreme minority, like a state senator or representative who needs to get re-elected.

Now if we can find a way to at least threaten the money flow...we might have a weapon. How is that done? That remains to be seen....I don't know. Slandering? :D

True that the FDA doesn't pass laws, but I do understand your points. We as americans really should have more input when laws like these are passed.

(The white house website does have an open door link at the upper right hand corner it says 'contact us'. Right now they're rounding up all those associations and NY is running out of time. I wonder if they're not even wanting to wait for NY and want to get to the federal level as quietly and quickly as possible?)
