It may be hard to get a meeting with a governor, but a state senator is a different matter. We already have examples of ECF members scheduling meetings with their senators in New York. I wrote the Governor of Wisconsin and he wrote a personal letter back.
Don't dismiss the Illinois effort as different. It's exactly the kind of thing we need - people getting off their arses and DOING something.
The reason people don't think it works is because they never TRY.
They assume "No one will show up" so they don't go and no one shows up
They assume "They won't take my call" so never make the call and will never know
They assume "It's too late" so nothing gets done and it's finally too late
They assume "My one voice won't matter" so they never join their voice to be more than one voice
You know whay they say about people who assume.
"If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always got."

Don't listen to the naysayers. Grassroots efforts have made some major changes in this country. It's how we BECAME this country. If you've never become involved before, now is the time to step up.
