Nothing gets my blood boiling more than to see a bunch of youtube vids uploaded by kids, in their room praising the electronic cigarette for being "an awesome device" that "doesn't smell of smoke". If you haven't been smoking, JUST STOP SMOKING NOW !!! You probably have more will power, and less of a dependence on cigarettes/nic than a 10+ year smoker. This has become a viable option for people that could not seem to kick the analog cravings, and does not need any additional skepticism or criticism. In short, if you never bought a pack in your life, and/or bummed cigs off your parent and friends, you do not have a true habit!! You should not look to vaping as an alternative for you, as you never were a true smoker in the first place. Or, if you do choose to continue, keep your videos to yourself. That's just what will get us all pinched! That is all.:mad:

I agree. By the time I was 16, I had been smoking 3 years already and was thoroughly hooked. I tried and failed to quit for the first time when I was 15, even before my parents knew I smoked. Consequently, I can't say I agree with the "no vaping under 18 without parental permission" policies. I don't think that's realistic and it ignores the fact that there are a lot of young teenage smokers who won't quit for years or decades if they have to wait until they've been smoking 3-5 years to vape without mom's permission.

However, there are a lot of people who disagree with me and are perfectly happy to sacrifice the lives of teenagers in furtherance of their moralistic stance. They'll use these videos as ammunition to spread hysteria among the "what about the children" crowd and that'll make things even worse for everyone, young and old.

Personally, I think they should have a box of e-cigs in high school clinics, right next to the box of condoms.

Started smoking at 16 and fell in love immediately. I don't condone smoking or vaping for anyone under the legal age but a reality check tells me some teens will pick up the habit of smoking and I would prefer them to be vaping. As for banning vaping I see lottsa young kids smoking yet have not seen smoking banned because of this problem. And ALL vendors do have an admittance window stating users must be over the legal age. Another reality check and experience also tells me a certain segment of the population are addictive personalities and nothing will change that. Sometimes we just have to learn the hard way. I wish vaping was around when I began smoking.
