Hi All,

Well, it’s been almost a week now of steady vaping without an analog, and I feel great! After smoking 2 to 3 packs a day for 30 yrs, I’ve quit! No pain, no withdrawal, no headaches; nothing! This is just toooooo easy! I really didn’t even intend to quit, just thought I would kind of stretch out my analogs by augmenting with the vapor. Well, that worked for a day or two, then I noticed the analogs started to taste and smell bad. So I started doing more vaping and less ‘smoking’. In less than 3 days, I was analog free. Wow! My hacking cough is gone and I can actually climb a set of stairs without a rest. At this rate, I’ll be an Olympic runner by years end :)

I’m already starting to do the ‘Stalk the Mailman’ routine. My 3rd order of goodies from Vapor Kings is due today and my first order of Halo juice should be here Monday! I’m a Capricorn and tend to be a bit obsessive about things once I become interested. (That’s how we ended up with 6 IBM servers in our house!!)

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for a great and informative site. I’m going to be here for a while.

Greg

Welcome and congrats on vaping instead of smoking.

Yes, it really is that easy....for most.
Some do the gradual cut down, half a pack, 5 cigs, 2 cigs, etc...
But it seems that MOST people actually end up stopping cigs completely at the first puff of an Ecig (myself included).

It's wonderfull how easy and awesome these things are.

I can't count how many threads I've seen on this forum saying the same thing.
"I didn't even intend to quit, just cut down"

It is becoming a Hobby, got my little ".... lab" at home, plus a portable one in a Camera case. Actually, an Altoids Tin is all you really need. Cary a couple bottles of juice, couple clean empty carts, paperclip, spare battery/atty...good to go.

Lovin it...

Welcome GB...I'm a Capricorn too and my story mirrors yours:)
Although I didn't smoke 3 packs per day(almost 2) I had the worst cough..now what an improvement right?? Come sept it will be a YEAR w/o the buts!!! I'm so glad I found the E-cig although I wish for the banning ideas to stop, maybe we should change the name of the devices to E-vapors!!;)

Yes it is a wonderful thing! Those little PV's are sneaky like that. I smoked for 27 years. I originally let my honey buy me one and kind of thought he was wasting his money, but at any rate I tried it cause he is allergic to smoke severally and he said he wanted to keep me around for another 20 years if he could, My thought process was I would vape when around him to appease him and I would suffer somewhat but it may help keep me from going insane till I could get a analog. Short of it, I will never smoke a nasty analog again in my life, I don't know how he tolerated my nasty little habit as the smell long out lives the smoke. Now he kisses me to find out what new liquid I've been vaping. I think he likes the Pineapple lol Yes vaping is fun for me, no smoking was not!

My story is very much like yours. I smoked 2 packs a day for 40 years. I heard about e-cigs on another forum I frequent that pointed me here. After researching all weekend I thought I would give them a try. Without saying anything, I ordered 2 - 510 starter kits, one for myself and one for the wife. When they arrived we sat down and I explained to her what I had learned. Three days later we were both off analogs completely.

Same here, I smoked 50 a day for 43years and found vaping on the net and thought that looks cool and cigs are getting expensive, I'll give it a try. Well from the first drag I haven't had an analog since. It really is that easy. Praise be, it's heaven sent. Now if only tobacco companies would get on board we wont see governments trying to ban it.

No, that's what we DON'T want....

If tobacco companies start making them, I guarantee they will still put the crappy chemicals in them. And I'll bet the farm that those will be the ones the FDA approves and they start getting sold at any store worldwide.

Congrats!

You're not alone in the "oops effect" - I had actually intended to add vaping to my analog habit as part of research for a friend wanting to quit, but I just forgot to light up again for several days after trying a PV, and then realized I no longer wanted to.

There are lots of other similar stories here - in fact I think the hardest part of quitting analogs, with all the help available here, was not letting the dozens of stories of people quitting accidentally spook me into seeing vaping as a threat to my precious analog habit (until it was too late). When the amazing success rate of a quit plan is its most prominent drawback... wow. :D

Buy spares! (Not that I need to bring up the value of redundant systems, if your server comment is any indication.) Try all the juice you can find! Read up on atty care and cleaning, and make sure you keep enjoying every minute of this.

HA HA! I smoked over 20 years and I have literally quit smoking HUNDREDS of times using EVERY method known to modern man...some that seemed more dangerous than the smoking (i.e. CHANTIX!).

This thing WORKS!! I have NO desire for my cigs again, it is the only thing that has ever worked and it is fabulous! It is a huge weight off me, I am supporting a very large family (including 5 kids at home between 19 months and 20 years!) and can't afford to get sick!

Congratulations! It's one of the best things that has ever happened to me! 6 weeks smoke free, painlessly!

...I am not a Capricorn but am totally obsessed with e-cigs. I have 80!

Eighty? Wow, I feel so much better about my own collection now!

(...er... I could feel guilty about the implicit judgment there, but it all evens out. I'm the one my other knitting friends introduce their SOs to for a very similar validation. "Tell him how much yarn you have, Jaka. Go on, it'll get him off my back. Honey, she has ten times the stash I do. Tell him!")
