Oh...maybe some of you out there that have been doing this a while can ease my pain.

I started out with a Joye 51. It was totally cool. It was so cool my husband and I decided to upgrade. We recently bought two Riva 901's. When we received them one battery was already dead and gone. Okay, we'll just send it back. And we did. While his was being replaced one of mine died and never came back. Grrr...okay, we'll send that one back too. So his comes in and its fine. Great! Mine comes in and...wait...what? It's dead too? Okay, so send that one back. Meanwhile, we order 510 to 901 adapters. What do you mean they don't fit? Come on! On top of that an atomizer goes out. Then there's many dollars spent on juice that 1. I absolutely hate 2. I love but it hurts my throat or 3. stuff that will do till my next order comes in (where are u mailman??).

Does it ever mellow out? I feel like my life has been consumed by juice, atomizers, and voltage. Do you ever get to a point where you are happy with your equipment? When you find something that actually works?

Oh, this is so frustrating. It would be sooo much easier just to go and buy a pack of cigarettes. But I have invested so much into this already that I can't give it up.

It sounds like you are either purchasing from a very poor vendor, or are having a run of terrible luck.

I have purchased a LOT of stuff over the last 21 months, and haven't gotten one thing that didn't work...
--30 standard 510 atomizers
--30 standard 510 batteries (I have since sold them)
--30 standard 306 atomizers (I have since sold them)
--Two standard BE112 atomizers (I have since sold them)
--One low resistance 510 atomizer
--Two 510/KR808 adapters
--Two 510/BE112 adapters
--One 510 Personal Charging Case (I have since sold this)
--Three 510 battery chargers
--Three Chucks
--One Bartleby

I wish everyone had my luck, I guess.
:(

As for the juice that I don't like, though, yeah I've gotten plenty of that.
Once you find some that you like you should be all set.
:)

Like any other venture e-cigs have a bit of a learning curve. However, as time passes and you get more familiar and comfortable with the equipment and find some juices you like I believe you'll love it. The Riva's are nice equipment and once your battery issues are sorted out you'll be quite happy with them. Just hang in there, and don't be scared to ask questions or just vent, we've all been there and it does get better!

Sorry to hear you are having so many problems.
Where did you order the batteries from?
I don't think I'd do business with them again.
I've had good luck buying batteries from:
Electronic Cigarette Supplies & Electronic Cigarette Refills for Name-Brand Electronic Cigarettes! E-Cigs from LiteCigUSA
I don't know if they have batts you can use for your current PV but they might. I ordered 12 for my kr808 and haven't had any problems.
I went with the kr808 because I didn't want to worry about atomizer issues.

I can relate about the juice. I've got at least 10 small bottles of stuff that is HORRID . I've got about another 10 small bottles of fruit flavors that seem to have no flavor at all. :( I'd have never thought it could be so difficult to make a banana or raspberry ejuice that actually had flavor. Only 2 or 3 vendors are going to get my ejuice orders from now on. I tired of being disappointed.

Hope you get your issues sorted out. :thumb:

Hello. Sorry you are having so many problems.....with adapters, the first no. is the battery, so if you have a Riva 901 then you need an adapter that starts with 901. The second no. ids what kind of atty/carto, etc that you want to use. i.e. 901/510. sounds like you got it backwards. Can I ask? if you started with a Joy510 what didn't you get a Riva 510? All the same equipment(except the charger) could be used from the Joy510 to the Riva 510.
Juice.....well, after spending a long time trying different vendors, I have found I only like a couple better than the rest.
Freedomsmokeusa.com
velvetvapors.com
both are great companies, and have loads of different juices to choose from
good luck
:)

I can definitely relate. It does get better and get easier. The key is finding a device that suits you and a couple of juices you like and this involves some trial and error. I got around the battery issues by getting battery mods that use real batteries. You can find them many places online and they last for many more charges and don't have to be charged as often. Of course mods are shaped and sized nothing like a real cigarette and that bothers some people. Order samples of juices from many places so you can try them without spending too much money and then order larger sizes of the ones that appeal to you. If refilling constantly is what gets on your nerves there are a number of great bottom feeder mods that allow you to fill a bottle inside the device with liquid and press on the bottle when you need more juice. With the device I have I only charge batteries once a day and fill the bottle of juice every other day or so. The only thing I have to really keep on hand is extra atomizers. Some of them last a few days and some last months, they're disposable so I always try to keep a bunch in the house. The key is having backups to your backups so that if something dies you're not screwed :). Hope some of this helps. It does get better and easier as you go along.

YES...we all go through it. I am actually goin through it again...grrrr BUT..Iam no longer smoking "Death Stix" I call that well worth the trouble.

As for juice you dont like..join the PIF (Pay it forward) forum. That is how I found my daily vape. Without them who knows how much I..we...would have spent on juice we didn't like.

And as for the hardware...Classifieds is great here at ECF. Also how I try different gear..I look for someone wanting to try what I have and offer a trade. Some of us that have more than one unit will send ours first..so the other party is never without something to vape.

Relax...remember every cig you dont smoke is a win !! You have found THE BEST place to get through the aggravation.

I feel your pain too. I started out with a Blu kit and the cartomizers ran dry so quickly didn't have anything to vape no juice no nothing. A week later my 5 packs of cartomizers came in the mail. They lasted about 4 days again no juice no nothin. By this time I had stumbled upon ECF and had learned a few things. So the Blu went back to it maker (best move ever). Joye 510 kit comes.(. 2 weeks later) but wait my juice isn't hear yet. So I had my PV and two cartomizers. That lasted a few hours on top of that my manual battery was dead and my passthru isn't sealed. But I have one auto battery. (meh). Fast forward to today 5 days later my juice arrives. I am dripping and I am being careful to watch my auto battery and passsthru to keep from filling with juice and causing epic fail. But now that everything is said and done. It's well worth it in my opinion. I am so glad I made the commitment to wait. I can breathe better and taste my food. Oh and top of all those little problems I failed to mention I'm waiting for all these supplies from my hospital bed. Sucks not having a store we can just run out to and swap batteries or buy sample juices. I fortunately love my juice and have had the chance to try a few my friends had in the past. But alot of people on here love to swap juice and trade. Check out the PIF group. Chances are someone might like what you don't. And they might have something you will like till you find that sweet spot.
Maybe walmart will start selling kits and juice. But until then this is our plight.

Unfortunately, unlike cigarette technology which had a couple hundred years to develop, PV technology was only developed 8 years ago and has only had any kind of widespread use for about 5 years. If you look at some of the outlandish devices that people used to try to fly in the early days, you get some idea of where we are. Right now, these are finicky, trouble prone devices. That doesn't mean it doesn't work or that it's not worth the trouble. It does mean there is a learning curve and it's not as easy as any of us would like.

I often wonder if collecting mods would be a good investment. Most of the stuff we are using now won't be available anywhere in 10 years.

You should not have to go through what you are going through.
You need to find a few ECF veterans who have been vaping for 2+ years and consult them. But then, you need to follow their advice to the letter.
Buying the correct equipment should be made easy and based on quality and track record. Not on marketing, or some suppliers urge to sell something new and cool.
As for liquids find a person skilled in the art of mixing juices, who can tailor a juice to your liking and nic strength .
I think the forum veterans need to get together for a chat, and we need to select a couple of bullet proof e cigs that beginners should start with, or at least a good , better best..dependant on budget.
I hate seeing this trial and error performed by newbies. Your frustration reflects our inability to have assisted you correctly. That is if you asked us for advice in the first place.

Not enough info -

What kind of juices, how much nic, what PG/VG - high nic is harsh. Nic is harshest in 100% PG juice. And heat makes it a even harsher. Heat can make lower nic harsher too. i recommend 70pg/30vg and standard resistance atomizers or cartos to start. And I assuming you got the awful tasting primer off the attys before inhaling.

So - what ohms are you vaping them on - sometimes low resistance attys come with Rivas and those are hotter. The reason many people buy Rivas is because they want to use low resistance attys and cartos and get hotter hits. I don;t really think that is the best thing for someone who is starting out. if your hits are too hot then get standard resistance attys or cartos for now.

510 to 901 adapter is to go from a 510 battery to a 901 atomizer. If you were trying to use to use it the opposite way then that will not work. In that case you need a 901 to 510 adapter

And where did you buy from? A number of us got Riva 510s at Liberty-Flights.com with no problem.

if your batteries are failing then maybe your charging cable or charger are defective. And when you screw them in to charge you need to first make sure the threaded end is totally clean and dry and screw it into the charger just enough for the light on the charging cable to stay red (means it's charging). And it should be a Riva charger, not any other cable. And it needs its own motherboard USB slot on a PC or a proper AC to USB with enough amperage, like the one sold for it or any 500mA 5v AC to USB adapter (that is enough to charge ONE battery)

Bloog MaxxFusion. It has been amazing, satisfying, and problem-free....right out of the box.
I can't imagine having gone through all of this and even thinking of continuing. Bless your heart, OP, for your committment.

Oh I can so relate to what you are saying! It seems like you live, eat, sleep and breathe ecigs when you first start out. But don't give up. You will find what works and flavors that you like and it will get much easier. It really can be a PITA to get started and at a time when we are already cranky from coming off the cigs. Hang in there. It will get easier :)

Well just consider the time you spend now will buy you several years of future life.

Personally I'm standardizing on KR808D-1s for when I'm out and about, and a nice reliable battery mod for when I'm home. I'll buy spares when I want to buy more stuff, replace batteries, get my 60mls of juice a month, and call it good.

I don't plan to chase the vape dragon from mod to mod, voltage to voltage, etc... I'd rather spend my time and money on other hobbies. Except e-juice flavors. I'll experiment with those. If they aren't tasty at 3.7 volts something else will be.

In my own opinion I think the 808 kr are best for beginners been vaping for 4 years now and have many different units but I can still rely on my old 808's and personally I've found that the juices that have more VG than PG tastes better and are less harsh on the throat so you can start with even 100% organic VG and if you feel that you neet more throat hit than you can gradually add PG I've recently found a real nice e-juice from vaperite they have clean liquid and taste great IMO. Good luck to you and don't lose hope you are in the right place where you'll find a lot of good people always ready to help and guide you in the right direction...

Sorry you are having such a rough start! I didn't have all your equipment problems but I did and still am having flavor issues. I must have really picky taste buds cause I've been thru at least 50 different flavors and still haven't found my all day vape. I know its frustrating and at points depressed me into thinking smoking was easier. But I've already come so far that I'm not turning back.

Don't get discouraged, just go with the venture and make it fun to try lots of flavors from lots of vendors. That's what I'm doing :)

Hang in there, it'll be worth it in the end!!!
