Without it we'd be back to this:

I just posted this in another thread:

Well they certainly do have their quirks but for most, it seems to beat the alternative. I had to chuckle when someone once said that as new technology springs forth, the devices we use now will probably be antiques some day and we'll wonder how we ever vaped them. We are like the forefathers of vaping.....lol

More adequate designs are certainly down the road.....but these things take time. It's like technology in the works. I'm just one happy camper that I found them when I did....regardless of the quirks.

i miss the stinging smoke in my eye.
i miss hacking up chunky phlegm.
i miss having ashtray mouth.
i miss the fear of burning the house down.
i miss the rank acrid odor of used butts.
i miss being exiled to outside at my own home.
i miss my cats feeling sticky.
i miss the fine powder of ash all over my car's interior.
i miss the guilt of knowing that these things are killing me.
i miss the feeling of being powerless to control myself.

yeah, cigarettes were perfect. OG ~ what have i done?!

Yeah, it's not perfect. I particularly miss toluene and methanol, and also not having to carry around a bag full of accessories, but it's getting there. Technology has a tendency to run wild if there's a market, and we know there's a market. Early adopters will get to sit around in a couple of years and say things like "remember carrying a paperclip all the time? and a syringe? Ha ha" (yes, we will actually say "Ha ha")

Well a black and white TV is better than no TV. Yes the e-cigs are lacking. I for one am just glad that they are available. So many people still don't know about the e-cigs.
My coworkers were shocked, they did not know about them. You would be surprise how many people that are smokers never heard of them. Smokers that are being told that they will die soon if they don't quit those analogs. Alot of theses smokers can't quit and never heard of e-cigs. I got to introduce my sisterinlaw yesterday and she loves the e-cigs. The look on her face using the e-cig was priceless.

I think this could be modified rather easily. (Manufacturer easy, not everyone easy.)

1) Mini spray button to add liquid to the atomizer. Or instead of a button, it would be like the Mic button on the battery to spray into the atomizer.
2) More powerful battery (Will produce more vapor, have tested short term).
3) The Atomizer needs to use a ceramic heating element. It my last longer and is safer. The only problem is pushing enough current into it to heat up in less than a second.
4) A leak proof, easy to fill, 1 ml reservoir attached to the sprayer.
5) Needs to come with a cleaning kit and proper cleaning instructions.

The price of such a device would be considerably more expensive. Double if not triple.

i think the e-cig is good where it is right now...the parts have to fail....batteries and atomizers should fail after a certain amount of time..it is what keeps the manufacturers and suppliers in business

considering the average lifespan of the atomizers and batteries and the cost of the parts...we are ahead of the game

Well, it's true. It's not perfect. Black and white TV is right. However, it's the beginning of a new era.

Right now, it depends on the FDA. If they approve this device in the long run - by then Phillip Morris and other big tobacco companies would "LOOOVE" to get their hands in this, and perhaps have something already developed by then.

I hate the big tobacco companies as much as next person, but I do welcome if they'd chip in and help produce a better and more satisfying products, with most of our problems with e-cigs fixed. If they just stand by the analogs, it's like they'll be staying with Radio, instead of TV.

I agree that the stable technology is not there yet, but if you look in the Modder forums, you will find a sample of what is going on behind the scenes on this front. Hell, cell phones are still unstable compared to land lines, but land lines have been around for over 100 years.

For those that have the ability to tinker, there are some great things to be had if you have the time.

For those that don't have the time or ability, you can purchase these things, ala, the screwdriver.

But as mentioned, the alternative is a lot worse than dealing with the inherent flaws in the current state of the technology.

Most folks settle in to what works for them after a couple of months, regardless of their path, so just hang in there.

And there in lies the problem. The FDA and I'm sure, our federal government, will do their best to seek their taxing teeth into this invention. No question about it. There will be an outright ban or the cost of cartridges or juice, they won't touch the device, will be so high due to taxes as to make it very unattractive.

These things are future collectibles. Throw nothing away. Your grandkids can sell them for big bucks in an antique store 50 years from now, vintage e-things from the "good old days."

Let's hope they don't fall into the same class of curiosity as those bottles of ...... you could buy at the general store once upon a time.
