Well said Shipmonster! 50's here and so is my wife. My aunt (60's) and mother (70's) also shop in local B&M stores. Why alienate what could be your most profitable and loyal group of customers. Listen up folks! I've also had a poor experience with a "wiz kid" who knew everything about the products he sold. Rattled everything off so fast to me, I couldn't even listen to him. I don't want to just know that you know, I want you to show me at a level I can understand.

And don't try to sell me a skull and bones drip tip jack .... Know your customers as well as your products :)

Well done!!

a lot of the mistakes I see at the B&M's as well as you don't have to carry a WHOLE line and every nicotine in a Juice co's wares, just the good ones! They still don't have Vaping Rabbit White Rabbit (one I keep at all times)at our B&M, after the last outage and I try to buy from them before ordering, but I'll have ordered two bottles before they even get an order.

you'd think some of this stuff would just make sense, I've seen the 50s crowd like us just keep on going or go after they open the door, so that's the money walking out the door, whilst their clientele is the one that's dripping free juice.

the Chinese Fingertrap might be a message *lol* I want to see you vape with that on in the next video :p

ok the video's a little ADHD *lol* A Message to Vaping Videographers, stop with all the starts and stops and focus!!!!:p

Cute little puppies too :)

I've had some experiences talking with older people (I'm talking 40-60 here) where they have gone into a vape shop and felt completely out of place. Ended up leaving without a set up because their needs were not met by the staff. This does bug me. Luckily we have a lot of vape shops in the area, and someone can usually point them to a place that suits their needs better. That's just the ones that reach out and let it be known that they felt uncomfortable in a particular store though. How many others have walked in and out and never thought to reach out further with their concerns?

I don't know... I understand that particular shops have different customer bases that they are trying to appeal to. I do think it's worth mentioning to younger B&M employees to be on the look out for the customer that looks uncomfortable and confused. Reach out to them and try to make them feel welcome and make them feel like you actually want them there, rather than just chatting with the guys with mods and drippers about sick builds and drilled out air flow. Lol.

Often the older smokers who get converted make the best advocates. They usually have long histories of smoking and quit attempts. They don't look like "the children" who some public officials claim to be so concerned about. They may not go out shouting from the rooftops and writing letters to congress people, but a quiet switch for grandma or grandpa can make a big impression on friends and family.

B&M are sooooo ... plebeian ;)

Have one in walking distance. Sold me cheap knock offs at premium prices. Sold me liquids that tasted all the same, regardsless of what it said on the labels.

Good thing that was.

Cuz it got me to ECF for reliable info on all things vaping
Cuz it got me into DIY within my first week of vaping
Cuz it got me buying cheap knock offs in China meself at the original cheap knock off price ;)
Cuz it spares me the hogwash and BS thats obviously spouted by some (not all) of the B&M staff

Me not planning to set foot into any B&M anymore

Very good video Shipmonster.

As a musician and someone with a lot of hobbies I see this a lot. Some businesses are around as a hobby for the owners and some are around for their customers. I frequent the customer based businesses.

I've been in music stores where a customer has walked in to get an instrument for their child or as a gift. They know little to nothing and need education. I've seen these people turned away. I take it upon myself to steer them to the proper businesses for them.

Therein lies the problem with many vape shops. It's a hobby for the owner and their buddies. Unfortunately the desperate newcomer eager to quit tobacco does not know the good from bad shops. They probably saw a sign, on the way to and from work, and after much deliberation gathered the courage to stop in. I was there myself. I however checked out the local B&M shops near me online first. Thankfully I did and have found 2 that are VERY professional and eager to help the newcomer as well as the sub ohmer.

I am confident the shops with the blaring music and lazy, unprofessional staffs will not be around long. You can only pay the rent so long on the backs of your buddies. I am also confident the shops I go to will be around. My favorite shop just moved to a much larger, friendlier location as they had outgrown their previous space.

I've been vaping for about 3 1/2 years; about 2 years of which, before I ever set foot in a B&M shop. Prior to that, I purchased 100% of my vape gear online. I'd been around, before there was a single vape shop in my area. Now, there are several. Here are some things I expect, as a customer, whether it's a vape shop, or any other business:
-When I enter, acknowledge my presence. If you're busy working with another customer, tell me something like: "I'll be with you shortly". I'll wait. Ignore me, and I'll leave.
-When it's my turn to be waited on, I want your undivided attention. I won't be sandwiched in between your conversation with your buddy, who is just in there hanging out.
-I'm not interested in seeing you blow a massive cloud with your super sub ohm set up. Your job is to assess my needs, not to impress me with your vaping prowess.
-If I pull out whatever I'm vaping with, don't belittle my equipment. I bought it because I like it. It may not be what you vape with.
-Don't belittle the other shops in the area. You won't get my business by trying to convince me that all the other shops suck.
-If I ask questions about a product, I expect knowledgeable answers. Don't BS me. If you don't know an answer, say something like: "I don't know. But I'll find out for you."
-If you treat me with respect, even if I'm just buying a $5 drip tip, I might come back and buy a $100 mod.

There are a handful of shops that are exactly as you described, needless to say, they don't get much of my business! Having said that, being older (50 years young!) I do find that most of my favorite places to browse are very accommodating!

My m.o. Is I go in without my device and start looking around and see where that leads!! I have found that you get a little more attention that way!! Conversation turns to what you are using and what they are using, different builds, juices, quality of vape etc.

Once that "feeling out" process progresses, they will open up as to what might be the next step for me in my journey to achieve the ultimate experience! I have three places that offer me that type of experience and would not hesitate to let others know their location and level of customer service!

Trial and error? Yes, absolutly. Will my turning on a dime and walking right back out the door change the stores' policy, doubtful!!

Shipmonster, do you work on the side as Dave Grohl's celebrity double?!

Great video. Consider me a subscriber.

HAHA I was waiting for it. My wife has entered me into celebrity look alike contest before with pictures of him and I next to each other . I don't see the resemblance very much but I hear it all.... the..... time.

Thanks for subscribing.

I agree a more professional attitude is defiantly needed at most of these shops. They should also do away with the superior attitude of we know everything and you know nothing, it's very off putting. I noticed many time when the owners around the staff and owners are very friendly and want to help but when the boss is away the douches behind the counter don't care about anyone coming in the stores, it becomes more of a hang out then a business.

I am 64 years old and have been vaping for almost a year. The young man that owns the Vape/computer shop that I had my computer in for repair, was so knowledgeable about vaping and smoking that I was impressed. So impressed that I bought an Evod set up and a bottle of juice. I went home and googled all he said and was even more impressed by his knowledge. That was the last time I smoked a cigerette. I quit a 50 year habit. I go in
Other shops and ask questions, taste juices, and listen. I always come out feeling unsatisfied as a customer. Ron has spoiled me and keeps spoiling me. He remembers what mods I have, what juices I like, what coils I need. If anything new comes out we discuss it, he does not expect me to buy but stay informed. We discuss what I learn hear in the forums. This my store where my loyalty lies.

I have to agree to some things that irritate me in the shops which is that they've either got out 0mg nic liquids or really low. I'm tired of buying my 12 or 18mg nic liquids only to get it home, test it out on a fresh clean setup with a new coil in the tank and find out that it's no longer resembling the flavors that I experienced in the shop with the 0mg nic liquid that they have on for sample.

I think it would be grand if they could at least put out a couple of displays, ones that have 0 nic, maybe a 6, 12, 18 samplers so that we get the true flavor with the amount of nic that we will end up buying if we like it. It really doesn't make me want to buy more liquids that I try in stores when I get them home to find that it's now horrid once nicotine has been added to it. Remember that horrid to one person may not even be noticeable or a problem to another person. Personally, I hate floral flavors and many liquids that I've bought turned very floral when I got home the liquid with the nic strength that I vape on.

I only recently got around to asking the shop keeps what level of nic they have in their samples to find out indeed, they have 0 nic and only a couple of the liquids they have on sample have something like 3 or 6mg nic levels. So far only 2 liquids that I've bought in the past year didn't change flavors with the increased nicotine level that I like (12 or 18mg) It's pretty much my only real pet peeve with B&M stores. Although I understand why they do what they do (keeping down costs etc).

Well said and nice video.....breaks or no breaks. LOL

I was really blessed with the first B & M I stepped into. The owner was there and she waited on me. She took the time to ask about my habits, how much I smoked, etc. She knew her products inside and out and didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. It was a great experience for me since I was REALLY ready to try something else other than smoking.

Oh, BTW.....LOVE your dogs!!

Fiance and I were just talking about this 2 days ago after trying out 2 newish vape shops in Everett, WA. Wow, crap service, loud music, ignored ....

A peeve....having to ask the bored employee to try or test different flavors that are alllll behind the counter on the shelf. Yeah, that was fun.

I'm older, however the type of music doesn't bother me, but I can see that it WILL bother ordinary, average 40-90 year olds who just.want.to.quit.smoking.

I'm hoping these shops get their poop together. There is one B&M we'll go to. It's Ecig Express in Lynnwood, WA. Nice guys, some of the employees don't know lots, but will find out for you. They sell average juice, some upper end vendors like 5 Pawns etc. But no loud loud music, they are professional and they get my money when I need something NOW. They always say "hi" when you walk in and if they're busy, they'll let you know they will be with you soon. You have their attention when it's your turn.

One thing that frustrates me is when shops can't keep samples of their juices on hand. The fiance and I vape a LOT of Five Pawn's Queenside. Great juice. We really want to go back and try the other Five Pawns flavors, but none of the local B&M 's can seem to keep samples of it around. C' mon guys... you're not going to sell $30 bottles of juice without the samples. I pay that for something I know I'm going to like, but i'm not going to lay out that cash cold. Yes, it means you have to break into your own inventory to keep your samples stocked. But that's how you sell it!
