I would agree but I can't help but feel the average IQ of media personalities and journalists is in the double digits. Take guns for instance. They have been around a lot longer and are more prolific than ecigs, yet most people in the media don't even know the difference between automatic and semi-automatic weapons. I have even seen one journalist report someone was shot with an "automatic revolver". Never mind the fact that there is no such thing. It was either an automatic or a revolver but not both. To expect these imbeciles to know the difference between a mech and a regulated device is just too much to ask, much less know about what kind of topper was on it and what kind of batteries were in it.

Those are not journalists.

Calling them journalists is as bad as calling a gun an "automatic revolver".

Journalists don't write opinion based, un researched propaganda.

I am the safety feature of any device. Be it shooting, 4 wheeling, or cutting wood, or vaping. They`ll never make complicated equipment idiot proof, so I must be aware of potential dangers and treat everything with the respect it deserves.

In other news, I guess Chrysler has made a num-nut electronic gear shift lever and people are existing the vehicle with the car still running, Leading to people being run over by their own cars. You cant make the stuff up, it requires humans to prove how dense the universe can be.

Unbelievable.

People are stupid enough to buy a brand new car without learning how to drive the damn thing.

Without taking 5 minutes to read the owners manual or apparently even test drive the car.

The fail doesn't get much bigger.

All of this is personal opinion:
27 watts is roughly 7 amps. That battery is 1300 mah but I don't know anything else about it. That's about the same as an 18350 and 7 amps is the MAX that I would ever run an 18350 at, and only if it were one that I knew was rated to handle a 7 amp discharge. Kanger seems to think it can handle it though.

I don't charge from my laptop because if something were to go wrong, and the battery caught fire, I wouldn't want to also lose my computer.

You are correct, 800 mah is 0.8 amps.

Ego's are not "mods" per say, but they contain the same types of batteries, so the same cautions apply.
I like to think I can trust it because I like Kanger as a company and I trust them to make quality equipment, and I would hope they wouldn't sell a device kit that wasn't compatible. I do wish they would provide a little more info, though. It came stock with 0.5 ohm coils so I just kind of assumed it was all okay. That being said, I definitely would have done some reading anyway if I was going to use anything other than replacements for what came in the kit, to check compatibility etc. The only info they really state is not to use below 0.4 ohm coils with the subvod.
Thank you everyone for answering my noob questions.

Can someone fill me in on safety features on ecigs/mods? Is fixed voltage safer? What kind of safety features are available?

Your Device has built in protections.(a Circuit board) that controls on/off, regulates output, regulates minimum resistance it will attempt to fire.
Regulates Charging and regulates battery usage by warning, then shutting down when discharged.
Most Regulated devices have those features and more.

This topic is around use of a Mechanical(no electronics) Mod. A simple battery holder with switch and atomizer connector. Basically Direct Battery to Atomizer power. This type of Mod depends on Proper education of the user to set up and handle safely.

You are doing great by asking questions. That's what's important. Learn about what you have and how to use it appropriately.

Your mod is probably fine to run with the coils it came with. I imagine battery life is a little low though. it sounds like the device may protect against firing coils that are too low, but it's never a bad idea to have a way to check resistances for yourself.

Thanks! Battery life is not great, but I am not a heavy vaper right now and it will get me through almost a whole day. It is my only device right now and I like the passthrough capability. I am looking at getting the eleaf ijust 2, because I know it is good to have more than one device so you always have a backup.
