Why do 99.9% of drippers have three posts!? I've been eyeing that dotmod rda simply because it only has two. It just makes center builds so much easier. The center positive block helps but I just wish more drippers dropped the center post. Am I missing something here? Is there some important reason why three posts are so prevalent?

Ease of manufacturing/cost is the major reason i believe. The Petri's dual post, dual hole system is where i hope atomizers trend to in 2015. The easiest atomizer to build on without a doubt.

I'm wondering why companies haven't started doing more 4-post drippers.

I mean I'm starting to see them more and more, but the 4-post native 3 coil drippers provide more flavor imo. Don't get me wrong I've tasted some amazing single-coil builds, true flavor junkie builds, and they're awesome.

But personally, I really don't think a 3 post, 2 post, 4 post RDA is hard to build.... I guess rebuilding drippers every week for the past 2.5 years has made micro coiling and wicking simple, and second nature. If a 3-post atty is "harder to build" for you, then stick with 2 post. It really doesn't matter, you can still cloud chase with a 2 post, just use 22 gauge wire. Or 20 gauge g-plat.

Personally, if I'm going to buy another atomizer in the future, it will most likely be a 4 post rda, with a deep juice well... i dont really need a lot 'building room' - sometimes having too wide of a base can be counter productive for flavor... I just want me RDA to be responsive, well built, have the ability to be very airy, it must have adjustable air-flow for when I want to flavor chase, and must have good reviews by the ECF family :)

I actually hope to see more 3-hole atomizers, 4 post atomizers in the future... it's still relatively new... I go to my vape shops in southern california, orange county/LA/ inland empire... and you don't see hardly any 2 post, 1 hole atomizers.... I'd like to think California is pretty cutting edge in the vaping world, a lot of brands are based out of california... It may be different where you live, but in all my brick and mortar shops all you see is 3 post, 2-hole RDAs, and you're starting to see more RTA's and 4-post 3 hole systems. All of which are now coming WITH adjustable air flow... and it's about damn time imo.

I meant 2 holes per post like the Petri. Traditional 3 post drippers, even with a 2 hole positive block (effectively a 4 post dripper) are nowhere near as easy to build or efficient in terms of wire length etc. as a Petri. It's relatively complex deck manufacturing is likely what's holding others back.

the three post design is likely more prevalent simply for the fact that theyre easier to build dual coils on than a 2 post. and more coils = all the rage. atty manufacturers are cashing in on our perceived desire for moar.

if youre looking for a two post, you might want to look for older rdas. i still bust out my igo-L from time to time. sure its got a shallow well but the small top cap makes for some excellent flavor. the two post design is simple to build on and youd be hard pressed to find an awkward air hole position / centering issue. i find that while i appreciate the new innovation we see almost daily, it is most of the time (for me) completely unnecessary.

center-post builds are easy on a three post atty too. And its easier to get the leads in there. And it makes builds using more than one coil easier. It just gives more options.

sooo freakin easy to build on... i can knock out a .3ohm triple coil wrap with perfect coils in under 5 minutes.... I think like someone above me said... the center positive post is key.... The 4-post all in a line, like the hobo V2 - those are harder to build on... but as you can see with the StillareV3's deck - this is meant for 3 coils, 3 juice wells... whereas some 4 post atties are still really made just for 2 normal size coils.

Any decent sub-ohm-builder should look into a stillareV3 - my go to.... name a high-end RDA, i probably have it, and still use this as my daily driver.
