Threw my Vamo across a parking lot! Can I disassemble this thing?

Well I tired to fix my Vamo. I put a thick towel and put a grip clamp over the top head, and all I ended up doing was making WAY deeper gouges in the finished all over the top head without ever removing it! FAIL!
Subscribing here. I watched that video, tried to take my cap off, and failed too. Ryan Cook made it look so very easy. I've read on another thread that removing the top cap takes some force. I'm just chicken (yeah, I'll admit it) to use that much force. Good Luck to you, Nitrust. Please let us know what worked for you. TIA
Edit: And if you happen to repair any of those gouges, please post how you did it.

I'm sure Ryan probably had the cap off his before he made the video, making it easier for him to do the video, knowing how everything was put together etc, this makes sense to me.
