It's the all VG for me, absolutely. The thicker the juice(less diluted with H2O?), the worse the throat clearing. Throat clearing not toooo bad with thinner VG.

I had some nasty sore throats and burning tongue from PG in the past but that seems to have resolved, I think it might have been part of the smoking detox process, my tongue was raw and I blamed the PG. Now I'm adding PG back in and the clearing goes away the more PG and less VG I'm using.

I can echo what others are saying. VG or high VG mixes makes me mucusy.

I've been doing my own mixes and had been adding about 25% VG to my PG fluids. That is about the most I can add. Lately I've been leaning towards pure PG mixes. They're a little less vapoury, but it works well enough for me.

As for the occasional coughing up clear mucus.. I'm not worried about it. The body produces this stuff naturally and my lungs are doing their job in moving it up and out. There is no rattle in my lungs and they're clear. I'd worry if this were not the case.

I'm about 10-11 weeks without cigarettes and my lungs feel 100% better.

All VG does this to me, too. Early on I read a thread here about people developing allergies to PG so I thought it would be a good idea to order some all VG juices to keep this from happening to me. Immediately after vaping any of these juices I feel like my entire throat is coated with an oil slick and it takes hours of coughing up phlegm to get rid of it. I've now settled into 20%VG in my juices and all is good.

I have dscovered something interesting, and have no evidence its connected but if its a coincidence then its an odd one.
Recently, due to me vaping like a mad person (lol) ive been a bit wired at bedtimes so I got some 'sleepytime tea' - its a herbal tea by celestial seasonings - and Ive noticed a HUGE reduction in the throat clearing. I haven't changed any juices, or anything else in my life or environment. The ONLY new thing thats happened is me drinking this tea before bedtimes. Btw I hate the tea (chamomile has never been a fave of mine) - lol - but it works as far as making me feel sleepier.

Ive had that problem (and still do) since I started vaping. It was expecially bad in the first few months, and at one point I was losing my voice for a bit, but has since gotten better in the months since. I vape pg, vg, pg and vg, all affect me pretty much the same. Recently I cut down my nicotine level slowly to 0, lasted about 4 and a half days at 0mg before going back up to 24mg, and even vaping just as heavily as normal at 0 the phlegm did clear up noticeably and fairly fast. Maybe it has something to do with a TH, the slight lung irritation that causes, im 99.8% sure of it based on my experience. Oh, and now that im back on the nicotine using 11-36 and rarely 0mg now, the phlegm is defidently back. I was used to the phlegm before but notice it a lot more now. Just my 2 cents.

Hi CaptJay. I hate chamomile too by itself. I am an absolute tea freak. I like Yogi Bedtime Tea. The difference is that it tastes better and everything in it is organic. It is pricey, but if you buy it at vitacost.com, it is only 2.88 per box (instead of the normal $5) -- same thing w/Celestial Seasonings -- dirt cheap at vitacost.com. I purchase 10-15 boxes at a time of teas, Good Earth Original being my fave. Flat rate shipping only 4.99. Also, you can add orange or spearmint oils to chamomile which are calming essential oils (if they're natural).

I've been drinking more hot tea in the last couple months too, and it's really helped me stick to vaping more and smoke less. It helps soothe the throat, calm my nerves, help me wind down to sleep. If I drink less for a couple days, I notice afterwards that I've had more cigarettes. Instead of 1 or 2 (and hating them), I realize I had 4 or 5 and didn't mind them as much. So I'd rather drink the teas. I drink St. John's Wort tea for mood balance, Good Earth or Yogi sleepy time/bedtime tea, and of course Guayaki Yerba Mate in the morning to get me going. I'm sleeping better with less smoking and breathing better for the most part. I get that little tickle in my throat once in a while at night, usually on a day I didn't drink hot tea before bed. Also, the Yogi Throat Coat is good.

My 15 year old son was constantly clearing his throat. The doctor said it was acid reflux and put him on Prilosec and it has made a huge difference.

My older daughter was dx w/acid reflux when she was 13 and her symptoms did not include throat clearing, so it surprised me that my son had the same thing.

I'm not saying that what you're experiencing is not related to e-cigs, but just throwing out another possibility.

I've only been vaping for 3 days, but the starter PV kit I ordered only had one choice for prefilled cartridges...100%VG! So, obviously I'm having this problem as well, but since I read up on vaping previously I knew about the dehydration and have been drinking water like mad since I started. I still get the throat clearing problem, but since I've been vaping frequently I just sip from my refillable bottle and it goes away. I also make sure to drink more water before I go to bed otherwise I'm very dehydrated in the morning (made that mistake the first day vaping) even if I didn't vape before going to sleep.

Hope that helps!
