Hi, wasn't to sure where to post this so thought I'd post here, please move if it's in the wrong place.

I've had my kanger dripbox 160w a couple weeks now and everything has been fine, just taken it apart for cleaning and rewicking, the coils are about 3 days old so have left them in, put new cotton in, put liquid on the coils and wick etc like I normally would

Now when I use it I seem to be getting a huge throat hit :/ I'm using the same liquid as before, same heat and wattage etc does anyone know what may be causing it? Here's some more detail

Liquid is: neon green slushie 6mg nic and its 25%pg and 75%vg

Coil is reading at: 0.27ohms
Temp is set to 200
Wattage is at 100w

As I said, it was fine before rewicking so I really have no idea what's happening

Thanks in advance

Did you dry burn the gunk off your coils? I know you said you took apart for cleaning, but that wasn't mentioned.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that, yeah, the coils were dry burnt to remove gunk, also gently scrapped them with a clean small screwdriver

I seem to get the best throat hit from a clean coil and fresh wick so I dryburn and rewick about twice a week. If the throat hit is too harsh make sure the air supply is correctly positioned to the coil. WIth my atomizer if that is lined up wrong sometimes the vape gets harsh.

Yeah I've been rewicking about 2-3 times a week, it's a really harsh throat hit, it's strange, it's never done it before, the vents are all lined up correctly and the coil is as close as it can be to the vents without causing problems

Will give it a go mate thanks, I'm using kanthal A1, 22

Kanthal is not for Temp Control; it's used in Power Mode. SS, TI, Zinc are used in Temp Control
I would recommend to back the Wattage down to about 50 watts and you'll probably find your problem go away.

Oh really? I never realised that, which one would you recommend I get? I will get some when I go out soon

SS 316 is what I use 27ga or 28 ga. In the meantime dial down the power to about 30 watts and see how that works. And if needed bump it up slightly until you find your Sweet Spot

Using the same set-up over time I find I increase the power/temp bit by bit over time.

If I change any 1 thing, like a coil, the liquid, a new tank, a fresh battery, I'll always(if I remember to) dial back the power/temp a few notches so I don't get choked out.

Sometimes as much as 30 watts or 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Can always adjust it back up to the sweet spot. Cheers.

Hi Jay89,

subwayaznm was correct. Kanthal is not use for Temp Control. Whenever I use Kanthal on my builds and putting a cotton in it, I always start at a very low wattage and then add 10 watts and so on until I find the sweet spot of my build.

Try doing that too. It's best practice to start low whener you change cotton to avoid burning your cotton in case you did something wrong and that could save you a lot of cotton. Hehehe :)
