Throat hit? What's all the fuss? I never felt that in decades of smoking.

I must be strange.

I see people constantly talking about throat hits but I never felt anything really noticable in my throat when I used to smoke. What I felt instead was a tingling on my tongue as the smoke passed over it and a "lung hit" once it hit the lungs.

I have experienced a burning sensation in my throat when I used to smoke them other cigarettes and have got the same burning sensation when I get a dry hit or sucked on an rda too hard but never during a normal vape.

The only juice that gives me that same lung hit, is madvapes Ultamint (It's very strong mint!).

So what am I missing here? Not that I'm looking for it since I never felt it. Just trying to understand my fellow vapers.

For me it's like.... Just a small hit on the very back of my throat. Almost like an itch that has to be scratched. It may depend on what type of cigarette you smoked as to what you vape but for me... I smoked newports for over 6 years. Newports are hard on your throat but I enjoy the feeling. To get the throat hit from vaping there are a few factors that come into play that can accurately replicate it.

PG
Heat
Nicotine

All three of these will provide a specific throat hit that is distinct from one another. As I can't have PG due to allergy, I work with VG only. So I have to make due with heat and nicotine. The higher the nic concentration the more throat hit is achieved (and so forth with the amount of heat) so to find my happy place. I use max VG, 9mg Nic, at 15-20 watts on a .8-.9 coil.

Some people don't need throat hit but for others it's desperately needed. :) I hope all that made sense

TH is pretty much to only reason I vape and was also in my last years of smoking as I don't lung inhale. Compare the feel of drinking Pepsi or other colas to drinking apple juice and that should tell you what some of us experience with TH. I haven't been addicted to nic for a long time if I ever was since I experienced no withdrawal from it but I am addicted to TH both vaping and drinking sodas. When I've tried to stop all THs, I get cotton throat.

I smoked Pall Malls and Camel non filtered, real cigarettes have throat hit. It's that warming sensation that starts at the throat and moves into the lungs as you drew in the smoke. A lot of vaping has to do with that sensation to some of us. 30 years of smoking numbed me to it until I tried to go cold turkey. After a couple days without and you finally break, it's like being hugged by your kids after a 9 month tour. That is throat hit to some.

I finally got it! :vapor:

I have some 24mg juice that I'm not really vaping anymore and tried it in an atty and I felt it on my throat. It's wasn't anything extremely noticeable but it's there for sure.

Now I'm not so sure that I didn't feel that when I smoked. Doesn't really matter though because, as I said, it was the feeling in the lungs that was my hook.

I always thought it was just me!! I am the exact same way. My local B&M just gave me some juices to try and score. One of the categories was "throat hit." Well, I don't and never had gotten a "throat hit." that I am aware of.

I just got back from vacation and tried a cigarette, and many smokers tried my e-nic. The Marlboro I tried tasted awful, had no throat hit, but I did feel it in my lungs. Still don't know how I smoked cigarettes... Now, my ProVari with IBTanked toppers with various juices- like ProVape watermelon and Halo's Prime 15, were far too much for those who tried them- all were ladies, but who smoke several packs/day. They liked the flavors a lot, but the throat hit killed them. They did enjoy the muted vape of a ProVape-1 with low battery with ProTank 2 filled with AIV Zombie Apocalypse and HR coil. One enjoyed the e-nic so much, I bought her a Vapor Couture starter kit, which she really enjoyed.
