I add a very small amount of ground cayenne to my DIY liquid while it's steeping. It is removed during filtering. (A pinch to about 4 oz of VG)
I don't think it improves the throat hit but you do feel a bit of heat, like an analog, in your mouth.
I think its a combo of atty eff. Power, Nic. I get a better hit after cleaning atty.dropping 36mg on it, fresh charged battery. I get less hit when atty is dirty for sure. I clean with alcohol soak and dripping on 36mg after drying.

I'm gonna have to pick some fresh Jalapeño peppers, as soon as they are right for picking from garden. I'll crush them and take some cart. fiber to wick up juice, or whatever I can wick up, add some 36mg Camel liquid, and see what happens. In the name of science of course!

Most batteries will output as many ma's as the 2-3.5 ohms of the att will take at the battery voltage, as the battery gets drained it's voltage will fall off (a function of the mAh) therefor the ma's. Put a 9 volt in your pocket and feel the many amps it will give across your change as your pants catch fire and it's nothing but 6 cheap AAAA batteries in series.
High mAh batteries just hit good longer, they won't hit gooder.

I've started using a few drops of my home made black pepper and red pepper tinctures to my DIY juices, it really does add a throat hit.
Example, Bavarian Cream Lorann's added to 50/50 mix of 36 mg / VG in 3 ml bottle. No throat hit.
Added 5 drops of each pepper extract, nice even throat hit, yet not enough to taste either of the pepper tinctures.

It has been quite awhile since I have switched to a new atty, but, unfortunately my 901 atty died a few days ago. I was stuck with a new atty and it was loaded with primer so I was only taking mouth puffs to get the primer taste off the first two days.
Once I got the primer taste out I started hitting normal and found quite anice surprise. My 6mg blueberry was giving a kicka.. throat hit. This leads me to think that the atty may play a bigger part than the nicotine!?
