I vape mostly bakery flavors so I notice the throat hit as a measure of how long a juice needs to steep. The longer the steep the smoother the hit, if you know what I mean.

Tobaccos are a whole different ballgame. I started out with the menthol tobaccos where throat hit is part of the experience.

I dont like any tobacco flavors. I lime fruity menthols. Ive hears of steeping but Ive never done it. I just open the bottle and use it. Im using a cinnamon aplle pastry now. I buy juice from eluid-depot.com for 11.99 120ml botyle. Cheapest juice made and its really good. I love all their flavors. I chain vape so I have to have cheap juice.

If there was no throat hit, I'm not 100% certain I'd opt to vape (still). I expect that I would but it would be significantly less satisfying for me.

Different strokes...
Now my wife is different from me. She smoked 20 years. She loves a throat hit. She used to use straight wire but switched to my wire when she found out how much vapor and flavor she got from it.

I prefer a cooler hit most of the time so keep my watts lower and air more open than if I'm using a juice I like a touch warmer.
The Kennedy doesnt have an adjustable airflow. U just get what u get. I vape at 80 watts boost on a Paranormal. But its still a cool vape I just get big clouds.

Throat hit was important at first but not so much now.
Also, I didnt like a pg type TH as much as I liked a strong menthol TH. I keep some menthol concentrate just for the occasional blast but I really enjoy a cool smooth vape more now.

member: 235791"]I barely know what a throat hit is after 4 years of vaping. MTL I never experienced it. LD I feel it just a little. Probably why I vape DL with 18mg. You can't vape DL very much with 18mg, since you will could over nic yourself in no time.[/QUOTE]
I use a 3 in nicotine. I get so much vapor even a 6 wud gives me a headache. 18 wud kill me.

Yeah DL 18mg is like to me vaping 3 cigarettes at one shot. Even taking a hit once an hour might be a tad too much for me. ;)

I actively did not want a throat hit when I got here, I used nic salts and I'm PG sensitive, so it's probably just as well I did not want one. I mean, I could probably handle freebase nic nowadays. I also like a cool vape and probably most folks reporting higher nic levels (such as myself at 18 mg) are using more restricted devices and far less wattage, etc.

I have a feeling my eliquid in a Dl setup would ah, "kill me" so to speak.

Thats why I use my fused claptons. When I use straight wire I get a throat hit.

Your Clapton setup likely has lower resistance than straight wire (unless you are using some mondo gauge). If you are vaping both at the same wattage (especially w/boost); it is no wonder you are getting a hotter/harsher vape. Try dialing down the wattage... just a thought.;)
