More water is good of course and might just solve symptoms for some people. However, I ended up going to the doc shortly after taking up vaping because suddenly, after all those years of smoking packs a day, I was developing nasty asthma attacks like I hadn't had since childhood. Of course I was scared to hear that vaping was the reason, but the docs explanation surprised me. He said a few things.
1. after not smoking for a bit the "blood hairs" in the lungs return, allowing your lungs to react to whatever environmental triggers they encounter. My lungs, in essence, were paralyzed all those years from smoking, essentially hiding my asthma though my adulthood. go figure huh. Umm, the way this plays out is a dangerous concept though, quitting smoking brings on asthma? lol bad bad image there huh. And not true, I had it all along but my lungs weren't able to get all dramatic on me so I pretty much forgot.
2. vaping means breathing in essentially lots of steam that loosens up crud in your lungs and needs to be expelled. I personally mostly just notice throat clearing.

The asthma attacks have now calmed down, a big faceful of dusty hay can still bring one on but they aren't just randomly happening to me like they were(was scary!), so it seems to my uneducated opinion that when the lungs do a bit of recuperation they act a bit jumpy for a bit before calming down some. So hopefully plenty of liquids will get you through the healing stage.
My humble .02

I still have asthma-like symptoms, but never was diagnosed. But still have occasional bouts short of breath. But gone is the chronic Bronchitis, the infected sinuses, day-and-night coughing, dry hacking cough, wheezing and gurgling sounds. It was awful, what an idiot I was. 2-3 pack a day smoker, for 44 years.
Extra Water with vaping is a must.

I'm knocking on wood here as I speak, but while I have had to deal with the asthma kicking up, I haven't had even a cold once all winter long. Three kids getting sick all around me, and a few times I've felt like I'm coming down with something, but by morning all is well again. I truly feel like I've healed and hope everyone else can get past the growing pains of quitting and find themselves on the other side of it as well.

I live in a very polluted city (Houston) right next to 2 major freeways, the pollution is seeping in from the morning rush hour traffic as I type this...YUCK :grr: and I too have noticed some discomfort when I first wake up, but I have also suffered from respiratory/sinus problems for most of my life, living in this polluted environment, smoking or not. Some of it is caused by allergies to pollen or dust, or sensitivity to the poor air quality, I tend to get better when I travel away from this area. Since I have been vaping, I get occasional discomfort (probably dehydration) if I chain vape all day, but I notice that the air quality and humidity levels have a lot to do with how I feel from day to day (thick lung feeling when it's more humid outside etc..). I still feel better than I did just a few weeks ago, before I found e cigs. The morning hacking has almost completely gone away, and I am noticing improvement in my sense of taste/smell too. I will be moving to a cleaner environment (OR) in 2 months and I hope that this helps ease some of the breathing problems I face right now, that I had way before I ever took up vaping. I still feel better from vaping than I did from smoking, and I think it also takes time to let your body adjust and heal from all the damage from years of smoking. My sinuses are still acting up, stuffy a lot of the time, but I don't feel nearly as bad as I did when I just smoked. I also found the vapor to be much more pleasant when I breathe it in/out than smoke ever was. I am starting to think that I am going through a sensitivity stage, now that I have stopped burning up my lungs on a regular basis, and I am just becoming more aware of how I feel than I did before. I will definitely drink more water, as I don't think I have been drinking enough lately anyway, and try not to chain vape so much. I also vape 100% VG after having bad reactions to the PG. If you are looking for a good source of PG-free juice, alienvisionsejuice.com is a great source, they have really tasty flavors... Everyone is different, and I am sure there are many factors involved in what makes us feel bad. I still think it's much better to vape than to smoke, so I won't be giving it up any time soon. Now that I have gotten over the newness and learning curve of vaping, I expect I will get a better handle on how go about it, it's easy to get carried away in the beginning, with all the different flavors, and devices to try out. :hubba:

I get wheezing expecially in the mornings... only get a sore throat if I've vaped ALOT the day before... and it goes away pretty quick. Increasing my water intake hasnt helped with the wheezing but its not a constant thing, and I feel better overall. Probably the PG... all my juice is 80/20 or 70/30 but I dont really know.. its not persistant enough for me to switch to VG juice... I really hate VG lol

I've noticed the exact same thing! I didnt get sick all winter which is WIERD for me.. expecially being around my kids when they were sick... I usually come down with the flu or a chest cold at least 6 times... :D

Rehydration is key. When dehydration kicks in one of the starting symptoms and the chronic symptoms is SOB. Being as to the fact we are inhaling a humectant that's further drying out lung tissue, keeping hydrated is VERY important. Sadly I am an idiot and don't oft follow my own words of wisdom, and though I cannot speak for all of the people that suffer these symptoms, I can say that after a few days of being a .....(edit SP) and not drinking more than a few cokes and a cup o tea, I feel a helluvalotbetter now after 3 glasses of water and a little time away from my PV.

Just my honest opinion.

i honestly believe this wheeziness is from vaping and not a reaction to an historic smoking habit and clearing of lungs..
