I have been
vaping since very early 2012 and i have had every possible concern regarding what i was doing to my body.
Some of the side-effects of vaping and quitting smoking has been: Sore throat, dry mouth, coughing up slime, bleeding from the gums and some hizzing from the lungs.
Now out of those four side effects three has persisted although reduced. The rest was side effects of quitting tobacco.
The bleeding gums
Was explained by my dentist as my gums recuperating from the negative effects of smoking. They stopped bleeding about 8 months after i quite smoking and according to my dentist my teeth are much healthier today.
The dry mouth
This is a side effect of vaping that persists. It is caused by the vapor inhaled and it´s only remedy is to drink more water or vaping less, so i drink more water and it has helped.
Sore Throat
This was especially a problem as i started vaping and quit smoking. It felt almost as if my throat was filled up to the brim with mucus an the vaping did not help much. However after a month or two this started to reduce and eventually it stopped being a problem all together.
Coughing up slime and hizzing lungs.
When i was smoking, i was coughing up slime every day. Especially in the evenings and mornings i would have a lot of slime in my lungs and throat. It would be so bad that some evenings i would have a hard time breathing and my lungs was hizzing like a punctured tire. This has been drastically reduced.
When vaping, especially using mesh coils and vaping Whipped cream/nutty flavors. I notice i build up a little slime in my throat and my lungs does hizz a little while taking deep breaths.
Having this hizzing feeling in your lungs makes them feel heavy and it is unpleasant. Without a better explanation i personally think this is due to the amount of vapor i inhale. But unlike when i was smoking this is helped pretty quickly by drinking a little fluid and coughing once or twice and then it is usually gone.
If you feel any discomforts go see the doc, maybe you are allergic to some of the base fluids (VG/PG) or maybe it is an aroma that is not working for you. Just as a side note, i am not allergic to anything in vaping. I have been tested.
