I noticed the motorcycle in your avatar, have you had a crash and broke your ribs, like years ago? I broke 4 of mine and some times if I sleep bad or take a slight knock, it feels like I'm having heart attack. Same feeling as when I broke them, ish. When bones heal they can be thicker at break and touch muscles that they didn't before. Hey I'm no doctor but just a thought. Good luck.

hi thanks for the thought but nothing like that has had happens , and i'm someone who is considered fit. I run, go to gym etc. no injuries ever before.. atleast to the body , chest area etc. It's just very clear for me now that "ONLY" when i vape, i get those tight chest feelings. I am just too disappointed why i'm so special from the rest and unlucky that i could not vape anymore. My lungs just does not want to accept the vapor.

I have been a heavy vaper for over 3 years. About 4 months ago I started having chest pains and tightness. After reading that some people have these problems when vaping PG, I switched to vaping VG. Also, I have tried to stop inhaling so deeply.

Since switching to mostly VG (right now I am vaping a 25%pg, 75% vg mix, with a few drops of vodka to thin it out) , I have had no problems with chest pains, but, I really don't know if the problem was PG, or some other condition that just went away on its own.

Did you have chest X-rays?

Hi yes, x-rays, bloods test, ecg, blood pressure , cardiologist ( have yet to go for a stress test for the heart). etc... so far everything seems normal. the doc said my organs are all working as it should but than, when i vape... my left chest gets tight :(

Why i'm very sure it's ecigs is simple... For the past 1 or 2 weeks, i have been smoking analogs after the symptoms and i did not have any tight chest feelings... No earlier on just now , when i tried vaping again... it came back. ( tight chest feeling and it's very uncomfortable)

i did try 100% vg too.. i noticed that the effect is lesser but it comes when i vape for a little longer than with pg juices. For instanst if i vaped pg about 5-10 puffs.. the tight chest feeling comes. If i vaped for about 15-20 puffs on vg the tight chest feeling comes. And this feeling last for hours. Atleast 2

Acid reflux. I know it's been said but it took my father in law 6 months to get to the bottom of his chest pains. Just hoping for you it's not 100% vaping.

that was what my first doc told me and gave me medication. He said that "maybe" it was acid reflux and i too believed it was.. but than even if it was acid reflux, why would it only cause this problem when i vape and i'm fine and normal when i dont vape.

Have you tried unflavored e liquid? There are certain flavors that I just cannot vape because they have a noticeable effect my breathing. Lower nic (less than 12 mg for me) unflavored with less than 50% pg is the easiest on me. Unflavored DIY does have a noticeable flavor that I've grown to like. It tastes like a very light, slightly sweet analog to me.

I ordered nictotine, pg, and vg from wizard labs. There's a free recipe tool that you can download online -- just search for ejuicemeup on google and you can download it. It's a basic spreadsheet that gives you specific amounts of each (nic base, pg, and vg) to add to your mixture. It's really simple and VERY cost effective to make your own unflavored e liquid. I ended up ordering a 48mg nic base so I could dilute it and make it last longer. I'm sure there are places that sell unflavored in the nic strength you use. Maybe someone can chime in and give you some suggestions.

Had same symptoms tight chest feeling, difficulty catching a full breath for the last few weeks -
I wasn't really thinking due to vaping as been vaping for 4 yrs..(though fully quitting cigs only 8 months ago..)

Had my first asthma attack ever a few weeks ago..(allergy to latex I had assumed) but this chest tightness started since then as soon as started vaping in the morning
I thought at first it was anxiety (as per doctor) but then suspected some kind of sensitivity to my eliquid even though several yrs vaping the same recipe.

I already knew I could not vape flavored ejuice after my first yr of vaping as always coughing especially with caramel flavors or dark colored so I got into DIY then with a simple recipe - PG base , ethyl maltol, tobacco absolute and diluted menthol for TH

So decided to cut out the menthol ..as heard that aggravates asthma or anxiety shortness of breath..
A bit less tightness ..a tiny ray of hope..

then searched ECF and found this thread
+ the link about asthma here..which I thought interesting as I only quit cigs fully recently..
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...lse-have-shortness-breath-20.html#post8536475

I now switched from 100% PG to 80% VG (diluted with 20% distilled water) / 20% PG

The tightness has stopped when vaping.. *knock on wood*..

For now..guess by removing the last strong flavor I used - menthol and switching to VG (even though used PG for yrs) it's helped so far..(I hope!)

though my recipe is now pretty tasteless

First off, I hope you're feeling better!!! Secondly, please know I AM NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL!!! So please keep that in mind when you read this!!

I don't mean to scare you or give you a quick cure all and I may be way off base here, but I did some poking around for info. Based on the flavors you mentioned, (Boba's Bounty and Pluid), I was able to come up with some copycat clone recipes. One of the things they both had in them was absinthe flavoring. (Can't vouch for the genuine article since I have never tried them nor do I have them.) Now... absinthe flavoring contains anise star oil. Which of course, started me on a search for allergic reactions to ingestion (yes inhalation is ingestion, it get's into the system right?) of anise oil and this is what I found....

***Orally administered anise supplements may cause moderate to severe allergic reactions of the digestive and respiratory tracts. Such reactions may induce nausea, vomiting, ........, wheezing or shortness of breath. A severe allergy to anise oil may cause pulmonary edema, a life-threatening side effect in which fluid accumulates in the lungs. Ingesting anise oil may also cause seizures in certain people. Anyone who experiences these side effects upon exposure to anise should seek emergency medical care immediately. Left untreated, a severe allergic reaction can be fatal.

It's from the Livestrong website http://www.livestrong.com/article/393739-what-are-the-side-effects-of-anise. (I just googled allergic/side affects for anise.) Now, the pluid recipe I found uses lots of absinthe and it's here in the diy forum section. (I'd link it but I don't know how to do that for in-site links.) The Boba's bounty recipe I found using a google search on e cig vapers forum.

Not saying this is your issue since I don't know what else you were vaping but I would definitely NOT vape anything with any anise in it. At least not until you've ruled out the possibility that this is the cause. If you're unsure, ask the juice maker if there's any in it. Also, please bear in mind that an allergic reaction to something can develop over time and yes, it can be an acute reaction. (Meaning you had it before, no prob, this week, not so much!) Also, varying forms of the same allergen levels and contact may or may not trigger responses. For example, I cannot eat shellfish due to an allergy yet I can handle it during food prep for someone else and accidental ingestion of small amounts won't make me run for the benadryl. But as I age, my sensitivity has increased.

Definitely try the unflavored vape juice when you decide you want to give it another try. (Maybe try a pg heavy mix as suggested on another shortness of breath thread here.) Give your body a week or so to send you any signals and then maybe only add one flavor a week in. Hope this helps, again I'm not a doc and I don't want you to think I'm qualified to say this is what is wrong when I don't know. Just thought I'd share what I found so you have another avenue for your Doc to investigate. Good luck and feel better soon!

I just came across another article on wikpedia regarding diacetyl... Make sure NONE of your stuff has this in it. Apparently it is in some flavorings.. This is very nasty nasty stuff!!!!!

This sounds like exactly what I've been going through since Sunday.

Anxiety/panic attack is the feeling accompanied by shortness of breath. Neck feels swollen and tense all the way through my shoulders.

Lymph nodes in neck very swollen. Went to the ER on Sunday night and had all the 'tests' done.

Going to see my ENT tonight.

I've always been 100% VG but have gone to unflavored 100% VG since(I actually like)
I'm trying to convince myself that its in my head, but that doesn't help my throat/neck/chest

What really sucks is i'm adding undue stress to the matter by contemplating going back to smokes.

But it sounds like i'm not alone.... theres something going on... sigh.........

I have acid problems too, I have not been diagnosed with it from Dr but boy it scares the crap out of me everytime it hits (I dont get it when I dont eat spicy food or foods with A LOT of spices/rubs etc on it) but man I fall over clinching fists about to die thinking I'm having heart attack. I normally can feel it coming on and I run and take a double dose of Pepto and it stops it immediatly before it gets to the cramping part.
Hope your ok, speaking from experience I have ARD acid reflux disease, and I those same exact symptoms several times a year it took me several years actually to accept it and many Zantac Roland's tums etc. not saying u have ARD so get another opinion. It's scary and feels like a heart attack. It's wierd how gas and acid can have such a profound effect on us.

AWESOME!!!!!

Turns out I've been choking my self with spasms from Acid reflux and stress. Not swollen glands or allergies. Hell Yeah!!

No going back to smokes for me!!! Hard to believe that is what sent me to the ER but he said its not always a heartburn feeling from reflux.

I'm going to go enjoy a nice vape right now.

Thank you for coming back and letting us know what your diagnosis was. Also very glad it had nothing to do with vaping LOL.:vapor:

hi - I did not read the entire thread, I believe there are so many opinions it's useless until you don't see a doctor, but anyway here's mine -

I quit about 2 months and a half ago the regular cigarettes, and i have the exact same symptoms pretty much ever since (on and off) if you've quit recently you might still be in the detox mode.

On top of it, my symptoms can also be from: chronic sinusitis, cervical spondylosis and lumbar discopathy so it's nothing new to me. My heart and lungs are healthy on all tests.

I do have GERD as well - baking powder helps a lot.
