Time to recoil?

How do you know when it's time to throw on a new coil? Do they last indefinitely? I have a r91 with a 1.2om micro, cotton wick that is working great. Just change cotton every week or so and dry burn coil. I guess I need to know, what symptoms indicate the need to recoil?

coils last a long while, i dont think ive ever had to replace one because it became faulty. The only time is when i dry burn accidently on a fresh battery which pops my coils.

But i have one in one of my kayfuns that has been going for 3 months now. I only put a new one in my others every few weeks because i find it fun to wrap new coils
