ok, I started DIY about two months ago.
Bought the gear, scale, base, flavors and it's great.
I know have about 350ml sitting in bottles. Probably more.
I see a sale and buy more base and flavors to try new mixes.
No longer paying $25 a bottle for juice, and my own is better.
No longer binning that one juice that looks good in the ad but tastes awful.

On the other hand, not saving much money. If any.
I just placed one more order and promised myself to stop. For awhile.

Anyone else get carried away?

Yep at 366 flavors a few months into DIY, I’m finally slowing down. I had a harder time taking advantage of Memorial Day sales (of course I did!) because now I’m only rounding out with a few more I might need. I don’t know what the norm is but I’d guess everyone’s different and it doesn’t matter if you buy them quickly or slowly over time... Whatever works for you & you will start saving money eventually:thumbs:

That’s my juice cupboard. I added two dozen flavors since then, and two dozen on the way yet. A gallon each of pg and vg that don’t fit in there, plus 5 liters of nic in the freezer and about 100 empty bottles in the pantry.

You will see the savings in time. Honestly, it’s not even about saving, for me. It’s about juice I like, customized to my needs. And never stressing over running out and trying to find more.

:laugh:I know I’ve seen yours before but I love seeing everyones collections! Your tips are so colorful and pretty they’re eye catching:lol: The purplish marble-like mod near the lamp, if you don’t mind, what kind is it?

Every time you make your 4th bottle of juice and save most of the $25 x 4 you would have spent on vendor juice, you have another $100 saved toward what you spent on your DIY paraphernalia. Flavors can add up in cost, but eventually you will decide which flavor brands you like and stop ordering one of everything just to try it.

Most of my flavors are in the tobacco realm, but I've ordered some fruits and candies. I have less than 50 flavors and I've stopped ordering just because I'm happy with what I have. I just order replacements and an occasional new flavor.

I was spending $50 or $60 a month on vendor juices before DIY. That's $600 to $720 a year. DIY has saved me lots of cash. I spent about $200 initially on DIY stuff. All I spend these days is for replacement PG, VG, and NIC mostly. Occasionally, I order some LDPE bottles, pipettes, and various items I need to replenish. Once in a while I'll order a new flavor that everyone's raving about.

You might have the advice I might need:) I have a friend who has been vaping for about 6 months but still can’t stop smoking the stinkies. He loves sweets and candies. I’m wondering if making him a sweet or candy-like tobacco flavored mix, might help. However, I know nada about tobacco flavors. Any suggestions?

I would say those who wind up loving DIY get carried away (at least once) 100% of the time.

There is no way (probably, unless flavorings do indeed last longer somehow than I am thinking) that I will use up ALL those flavors, probably. I have many many liters of nic in the freezer.

I had to make a concerted decision to stop buying flavors. It was hard. I mean... I just ordered PEG400 and added SIX more flavors I didn't need, I just wanted them.

And I still have more liquor flavors to buy. I'm a lower percentage MTL vaper. There is no WAY I will use all those flavors (IMHO) although who knows.

Now that I'm nic'd up good and plenty for life, and have everything I need....

I still want to buy more flavors! LOL.

Good luck slowing down, I have decided to make a slush fund for flavors and buy some every once in a while. The good news is I won't be hurting for new experiments and flavors for a long time. LOL.

The first few years, yes. There are so many "have to have" basic flavors. In the past years, no real expense at all. I can only thoroughly test so many flavors.
Anyhow, DIY sure is less expensive than most other hobbies (cars, wine, travel etc..).

Purilum Sweet Tobacco might be a tobacco flavor he'd like. It has a subtle sweetness that isn't overpowering and the tobacco flavor is enjoyable. It's one of my favorites. Hangsen Highway, Flue Cured, and Desert Ship are also old favorites around ECF.

ECX Key Lime Pie (EcigExpress) is good for a dessert flavor. It's one of the better Key Lime Pie flavors I've tried. I sense the pie crust flavor as well as the Key Lime taste. It's a keeper if you like Key Lime Pie. I sometimes add a small squirt of ECX Key Lime Pie to a tank of a tobacco flavor just enough to taste the sweetness.

There's lots of DIY tobacco favorites discussed in the threads here on ECF.

I second Purilum sweet tobacco, really good by itself around 8 to 10% or mixed with TFA Pistachio 8% 2%.

Also good by itself is Double RY4

Both the Sweet tobacco and Double RY4 need little or no steep time to vape
Perfect! Thanks for sharing as I’ll use this as a starting percentage!

I just looked at my Purilum Sweet Tobacco and I mixed it at 6%. Since I'm 8+ years away from my last cigarette my taste buds have recovered really well. I mix most DIY juices at less than the recommended percentage. I can always add flavor easier than I can cut the mix with unflavored.

In the past I have cut with unflavored and ended up with two bottles of the same flavor and still didn't care for it. Sometimes it's good after dilution and sometimes the juice turns out to be something I don't like anyway after cutting it. New flavors can be a gamble. :)

Now I really feel good.
I have about 30 flavors and will probably quit there.
Made some three good tobaccos out of seven although one of those still steeping.
My go to nic is ready mixed which I now have a couple liters with 3 liters nic in the freezer for future reserve only.
Have also made a couple of good custards, much better than I could buy.
Have been using double RY4 but might try the Purilum since it seems highly recommended.
Oops, another buy.
Wife not complaining since it's still cheaper than cigs, but that will wear off eventually.

I remember when I quit at 30 flavors... I have since added about 90 more.
