Hello vapers!

I decided to go electronic for my nic craving needs. Of course, I got the idea from the radio and dove in without doing proper research and thus got inferior equipment that works poorly all the way around.

But all is not lost, I found this site! I've been lurking for the past couple of days doing my own research and trying to learn the terminology you guys are using and get a feel for the different tech available.

I think I am ready to place a proper order and I'm just looking for some advice and or confirmation on what I'm about to order. I'm only interested in getting started with this order then likely ordering more accessories later. With that in mind this is what I plan to order:

Joye 510 manual starter kit. The kit includes 2 batteries, 2 atty, charger, and 5 disposable carts.
A couple of flavors of 26mg, 15ml bottles of liquid.
A pack of refillable carts.

Now I gather that this will be enough to get me started but this is what I am not sure of:

Will the 26mg be a good choice to start for me? (pack a day analog smoker)

What do I need to fill the empty carts? Dropper or syringe?

Do I need empty dropper bottles or is that for mixing your own juice only?

Am I missing anything crucial? I would like a USB pass through but I think I will hold off on buying 510 accessories until I am sure I am happy with the 510 in general.

Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to offer me, I'm sure these questions have been asked many times before but after my initial purchase going so badly I'm wanting to take extra caution this time around. Also, great forum here, so full of information that its actually daunting at first.

Sounds like you've made a good choice. The Joye510 is the most popular model among ECF members (i.e., those in the know). It's not the only good choice, but you won't look back and kick yourself (even if you wind up prefering another model).

Let me respond to some of your specific questions and comments:

5 disposable carts. – By "disposable," do you mean the prefilled carts that come with the kit? No need to dispose of them; they can be refilled with a similar or compatible flavor (or you could remove and wash the polyfill and fill with any flavor).

Will the 26mg be a good choice to start for me? (pack a day analog smoker)I think it's too high. 18mg might be good or, perhaps, even 11mg. I suggest buying at least three small bottles: one at each of those levels. Start with the 18mg. If it feels right, stick with it (and mix the two other bottles to get 18.5mg). If it doesn't satisfy your nicotine craving, then try the 26mg. If the 18mg seems to strong, try the 11mg. In these last two cases, it's not as easy to make good use of the other two bottles. Possible, but a tutorial for another day.

What do I need to fill the empty carts? Dropper or syringe? – [By dropper, do you mean what comes with the bottle? You shouldn't have to buy separate droppers.] Just use the dropper for now. You can explore refinements like syringe filling later on ... or you can do what I do: drip.

Do I need empty dropper bottles or is that for mixing your own juice only? – You don't need extra bottles yet.

Am I missing anything crucial? – Crucial? No.

  • E-liquid: If the supplier you've chosen for your first order carries smaller bottles of juice, I would get several of those (in different flavors), rather than only two 15 ml bottles. There are so many different flavors out there. You've got a lot of (enjoyable, tasty) experimenting ahead of you to discover what you you especially enjoy.

  • You may want to consider a PCC for when you are out and about, to charge one of your batteries while you are vaping the other. The Joye510's 150mAh battery doesn't allow all that many puffs per charge: perhaps one hour of moderate to heavy vaping. The PCC props that up. Of course, this would be further investing in the 510 model, so you may want to hold off on it unless/until you find that you enjoy the 510 (most people do, some don't ... it is my second favorite).
Enjoy this exciting adventure, Tom!
