vaping noob here...

I'm very new to vaping..and I've read so many things in these forums about maintenance & ways to properly use eCigs that my head is spinning. So I thought maybe I'd just post what I do with mine, and maybe some of you veterans can make some suggestions? I mostly just want to keep it simple, but at the same time, get the most life that I can out of my parts.

I started by buying the Blu cigs. I liked them...but I wanted more. I read a little about the 510 and decided to get one. I bought it from Vapor Station along with about 11 different eliquids (sampler pack). I'm 3 days into my ownership, and so far I am LOVING the vape and flavor of my new 510 and eliquids.

I'm expecting a shipment of some new liquids from Johnson Creek to arrive tomorrow. I ordered the "reduced PG" solutions. They said they use more VG than PG...hopefully that is good? I am looking forward to vaping those. And in a few more days, I have a bunch of liquids coming in from HealthCabin.net.

The way that I fill my carts is...I slowly drop the liquid into the cart (with the filter still in the cart) until the filter doesn't seem absorb the liquid anymore -- it starts to "pool" up at the top. Then I dab it with a towel to soak up the "pooling". Then I vape.

To clean out my carts, I have been removing the filter part...and rinsing both the carts & the filters in warm running water. Then I soak them both in a solution of water & alcohol for a day or so. Then I put the carts in the dishwasher (in a mesh bag), and I leave the filters soaking in alcohol until my carts are washed and dried. Then I take the filters & run warm water over them again to get all the alcohol off of them. I dry the filters & place them back into the carts. Again, I fill the carts in the same way I explained above.

That's about it for me so far.

I imagine in a week or so I'll want to blow out my atomizer (by blowing in the cartridge end) to clean it out.

Other than that, is there any really important things that I should be doing?

I see people talk about "dry burning" on here. Can someone tell me what that is?

Vegetable Glycerin seems to be mentioned a lot here. What are the benefits of it. And should I start using it? If so, how?...just drip some into my dropper bottles that already have eliquid in them?

Any help from you veterans would be greatly appreciated.

What you're doing is fine - if the alcohol isn't isopropyl or rubbing type. I stay away from water and just use alcohol but only Pure Grain - Galen's 151 proof vodka charcoal filtered - unflavored, uncolored and if I could get Everclear I'd use that. I squeeze out the juice and then put the fillers and the carts in the alcohol - squeeze out again after the soak and let dry on paper towel. You could use a hair dryer if you happen to need one.

Dry burn - I don't do it because the only atty I lost so far in 7 months is from a dry burn gone bad ;-) But some do that:

Judge for yourself. Basically stick to if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Blowing it out as you do and perhaps soaking in the 151 for 10minutes IF it is underperforming is about the only thing I'd do. Many 'dead' attys are just flooded. Keep that in mind ;-)

Vegetable Glycerin VG - is thicker in pure form so if you use it, dilute it 80:20 with distilled water. Adding it like that to existing juice will dilute the flavor and nic level. You can buy it flavored and with nicotine at various places. If you get into DIY - then it's up to you. I like it better for the vapor - it can be quite a difference. The way I 'add' it to existing juice is to use Ecopure Rich (for tobacco flavors) or Fresh (for other flavors) and put a drop or two on top offs. But that's at home mainly. Although I always have a 3ml bottle of it on me, along with other flavors.
