Tips and silly questions

Hello folks! Did a lot of research before settling on a ego-c for my first e-cig. Unfortunately, a bit too much because I can barely remember some of the details and tips people have given along the way to get the best performance. I was hoping some of you lovely people could answer/remind me. In return, I shall offer you a funny story from my first attempt to take a drag.

Tips I can't seem to remember what they're for :D
-Something about a plastic film having to be punctured? Is this that thing I see on the atty head?
-Something about hearing a click?
-Loosening the battery a bit for a better hit? Is this just how tightly the body is put together? There's about 4 different areas that screw together if you include the bottom battery. Just wondering which point this refers to?
-Steeping or not steeping? What's that about?

Questions:
-So, loaded the juice, put it all together. Can I keep the E-cig assembled when out and about? Or am I disconnecting the cart from the body and keeping it separately until ready for use?
-I heard attys and carts will last approx one week depending on use?
-Any frequent mistakes rookies make with these models? I'd like to head them off if possible.

Your reward: So... super psyched when the delivery guy showed up. Tear everything open and I'm missing the Smoktech 1.5 cartomizers I ordered to try. Whatever, no big deal. Struggle for the longest time trying to fill the damn carts, liquid go in dangit! Finally find a toothpick and get it going fairly quickly. Sweet. Load two carts with some different flavours and find my battery's all green lit. Woot! Put it all together, watch the how to vape video again, and off to the races! Button down, primer puff, slow long drag. Inhale... and huh?! I paid 200 for this crap? You can barely feel anything at all! I'll never quit smoking! Oh no! Look down, there are my two filled cartridges. Look at the ego, cartridge is in but I'm pretty sure I only filled two. Sure enough, I took a third empty one. *smacks head* No worries! Insert one of the filled carts, 2mm left so there's an air bubble. Button down... slow 5 sec inhale. DEATH, UTTER DEATH. Holy moly does it pack a punch, moreso than I expected, so I guess even my "light slow inhales" aren't light and slow enough. Shouldn't have any problem quitting with this baby! :)

Cheers! And thanks again for any help and tips. As I find them, maybe I can create a little newbie faq deal.

Hahahaha, way too funny CappyCanuck!
I am with you on wanting a ton of advice on the egoC in one simple thread, undoubtedly it probably exists here on ecf, it's just a matter of finding it, which obviously you and I haven't.
I'm back to vaping after a few year hiatus, just got my goodies in yesterday. Wow how things have evolved...this thing is badarse compared to the 510's I was using a few years back.
Best a luck to you and I look forward to benefiting from the info you get in response to your story.

Hi Cappy,

Funny story.

I'll try to answer some of your questions. See below:

Tips I can't seem to remember what they're for :D

Here goes:
-Something about a plastic film having to be punctured? Is this that thing I see on the atty head?
I think this refers to the tank. Some of them have a thin film covering the hole where the spike from the atomizer head will enter. Some have this film already removed. If yours has the film it will be punctured the first time you put the tank on the atomizer.

-Something about hearing a click?
This refers to installing the tank on the atomizer. When you push it down it will be installed correctly when you hear/feel the click when the tank bottoms out on the atomizer head.

-Loosening the battery a bit for a better hit? Is this just how tightly the body is put together? There's about 4 different areas that screw together if you include the bottom battery. Just wondering which point this refers to?
Each of the items that screw together should be done tightly, especially the base and cone assembly. If this is not screwed together tight enough the head may not fire (heat up) properly.
The atomizer/battery should be screwed together just tight enough to provide electrical connection, although screwing them together tightly will not cause any problems

-Steeping or not steeping? What's that about?
Don't know anything about this. You'll just have to try it and see which way you like it best.

Questions:
-So, loaded the juice, put it all together. Can I keep the E-cig assembled when out and about? Or am I disconnecting the cart from the body and keeping it separately until ready for use?
Keep it assembled at all times. There's no need to take the atomizer off the battery between uses.

-I heard attys and carts will last approx one week depending on use?
I have 10 heads and rotate one a day for seven days and then clean those seven then rotate them again. If you keep them clean and don't over heat them while vaping, they should last a long time.

-Any frequent mistakes rookies make with these models? I'd like to head them off if possible.
Leaks seem to be a major concern, but if you put the tank on the atomizer assembly correctly (press it on until you hear the click) you shouldn't have any problems. Mine hasn't leaked the first drop yet.

I read in another thread the leaking is due to the tank tab getting stuck on the atomizer and later melting, so one should use that one atomizer to punch out the other tanks, anyone else do this?

I guess that depends on the tank. The 5 Type A tanks that came with my kit, and the additional 5 I purchased all came with open holes. Perhaps it's prefilled tanks that require this additional hole punch?

sometimes condensation is miss interpreted for leaking as well, this solely depends on how quickly and back to back you vape.
good luck to you, and everyone is here great and quick to answer question.

I found that if I used the little rubbery tip cover that the kit came with, I would see a lot of juicy condensation build up under it. Stopped using that cover and that issue seems to have gone away.

Now side note, has anyone found a good way to clean out these things? I mean they're fairly solidly constructed so I imagine that as long as one replaces the end cap piece (preferably with the newer silicone based cap) that a good rinse will keep them going for some time. I'm thinking either a soak in isopropyl and then a water rinse ... or maybe seeing how well the plastic holds up to a quick boil. Thoughts?

I've been runing mine for a month now, with nothing but a quick rinse in water.
i would worry about the plastic with almost anything stonger.

i only replace the caps about once a week, and toss the entier tank after i've chewed it up... lol.

Heh, I know I need to clean a few of mine soon (probably tonight when I get home from work) since I've kind of lost track of a few of them as to what flavor was used. I think what I am going to do is take a fine tip sharpie and write on the bigger cap they come with. The one that seals them after there is a hole in the smaller cap. Something simple like a 2 letter abreviation I can understand, and maybe a number for the nic level, since I have a few flavors in different levels. And I know next time I get over to my vape shop, I'm getting a drip tip that fits the cone. I've found it to be a very beneficial method to taste new flavors to see if I want to load a tank ... but drawing on just the cone is awkward. :p :-O
