Also, you can go to esupplystore.com and buy a box of 100 dvd size bubble mailers for about $24 with shipping. Which breaks down to $0.24 a piece. You can buy larger volumes at cheaper prices also.
Your best bet it is to hit up a dollar store or an office supply store and get envelope sealing glue sticks. They are very inexpensive and no one will be the wiser.
I have two relatives who work(ed) for the post office, 1 is retired, the other has been a mail carrier most of his adult life.
I have had this discussion with them in the past and it is their opinion that taping over an uncancelled stamp is not a good idea. The tape can get caught in the machine which can rip the stamp off, or any of the mail carriers down the line could inspect it and decide there might be something fishy going on.
Mail processors, carriers, and Post Masters (there is a Post Master usually for every 1-3 offices) have a lot of latitude on how they handle things. Just an FYI.

I should start doing some of the things ppl have talked about b/c I just looked in my center console and found all my PO receipts. OMG! I got a lot of them. I'm just lucky I live in the city and the PO is a like 6 houses down from me. I did however get some royal mailer envelopes which saved me a bunch. I need to get more that co-op almost cleaned me out.

LOL! BULK ORDERS! Wow, pretty soon ya'll will be PIF'ing shipping materials! ^_^ TO ME! I just recycle the stuff I get from the packages PIF'ed to me or the empty packages of stuff from when my roommate gets mail.

hehe.. EVERYTHING gets recycled and reused in this house. If I can't make something out of it, or get at least 2 uses, it better go in the recycle bin!

I was so excited today after reading all of these tips. My order of mailers from Royal Mailers came in today (thank you for the tip). I also went to the post office and got myself some 61 and 78 cent stamps (again, thanks for the tip). So finally, I have a package to mail out and I go to put my package on the scale to see how much it weighs and the stupid batteries are dead! Ugh, they require AAA and I've got a ton of AA batteries here but no AAA. I guess I'll be a mailing queen tomorrow, it's just not in the cards today.

It's actually an old food scale that I had, but I figured it would work the same as a postage scale.
Food scale works great, and it's cheaper too. P, I found mine in the food storage area of WallyWorld (where they have the canning jars and such)
On the stamp note.. went to the PO today and the also have DOLLAR stamps! woohoo! I picked up those and some of the 78cents.. (could remember the other amount)

I just wanted to re-remind everyone a good tip I learned from here. That you can print first class postage from your Paypal account. Just got to Paypal and click on the Merchant Services tab. Then click on the link below where it says Multi Order Shipping. There you can make up a label and tell them how much it weighs and they calculate it for you. You even get tracking info for like 19 cents, I think. I have started doing this recently because I ran out of stamps.
