So I'm still new to vaping (one week as of a couple of hours ago!) and I enjoy it very much. I still want to smoke, but it's really not much of an issue now. However, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I am not lighting up, taking drags, tapping ashes and then grinding out a ..... Nothing is of determinate length with vaping...just a battery that gets low or dies or a cart that gets empty. So I feel like I've been chain vaping and I really don't want to get into that habit.

My juice is too low (10mg) so I know that's part of it...but I am finding myself more and more carrying my pv and juice bottle around the house. In front of the computer is the worst. I think I've filled my cart 3 times in the last hour. I used to go hours without smoking because I had to.

I'm hoping when my stronger juice comes in the mail (tomorrow I hope hope hope) that I can stop the chain vaping.

Anyone else have issues?

Any tips?

Thanks. :)

Use an egg timer or an alarm of some type; have a determined time when you vape (like only after a meal for 5 mins tops or something like that). Set limits, if thats what you want to do, and stick to them.
Alternatively, chain vape, but only using ZERO nic juices, and only use the juices with nic in when you feel you 'need' to.

i would try buying extra flavored juices with 24mg or 18mg nicotine concentrations and then cut them back as needed. it is ALWAYS easier to cut e juice than to have to purchase new bottles. i tend to get most of my juices from myfreedomsmoke at 18mg. for others i buy 24 mg because certain juice flavors tend to be thin. i cut them with glycerin to thicken them up. which brings the nicotine strength down to around 20 mg.

i typically chain vape at home when watching tv or at the mac. in the lab i go out once and hour or so to vape. inconsistent vaping patterns seem to have little to no effect on me.

i would concentrate more on getting a higher nicotine concentration first, then see if you believe your chain-vaping is an issue or not. it may turn out to be a non-issue.

Define issues... I was a 1/2 pack a day smoker, now I'm a four-five cart a day vaper. I don't consider it an issue, I just enjoy it. I know what you mean about the no stopping point, though. I walk out to the smoking porch with my old smoking buddies, vaping all the way, stand by while they smoke their butts, and then walk back in, vaping all the way.

Any tips?

Thanks. :)

If you're concerned about Nic overuse, switch to a lower nic, not a higher one. The nic delivery in these desn't feel as high as an analog, even at the higher levels (I vape 26mg, and don't get a buzz, even if I vape heavily for an hour, but one analog after a weekend off makes my head spin). The action and the sensation is what's satisfying, so the nic is more of a side issue (at least for me, YMMV). I started with the typical high / med / low carts and never got a strong sensation from any of them, so I switched to 26mg to try and get the "just smoked" feeling. Never happened. Amazingly, the desire for the analogs just fades into the background. I'm going to start stretching my supplies with filler and flavor, cause I don't seem to need the nicotine, just enjoy the experience. After a while, I may worry about cutting back, but for the moment, I'm just loving it.

I do the same thing--if I move rooms, so does my PV and my little bottle. I wish I had pockets more often. I love my hoodies with a pocket in front but it will be too hot soon for those... new ideas... hmmm. It's not the PV so much as the bottle. I have to be careful since I have little kids around!!! I can't just set it down anywhere. Most of the time it ends up on a high bookshelf, on the top shelf of my desk, etc.

Anyway, I digress. I chain vape too. I use anywhere from 16 mg and down, mostly way down. For me smoking was definitely the ritual more than the nicotine, although I can tell I do REALLY want a vape and feel a bit of a buzz if I've had several hours away from it (my husband does NOT like it and so when he's around I abstain in order to keep the peace). Anyway I go very low nic so I don't have to feel worried about getting too much since I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have the discipline to do as some others suggested and restrict myself to certain times, locations, etc.

Are there any dangers to chain vaping? Since I started, I haven't noticed any yet, but there are any veteran vapers who chain vape all the time like I do?

My problem when I quit smoking and didn't know about PV's, I ate ALL the time just feeling like I needed to squash a craving inside me... blugh!

Now that I just started using a PV, I've regulated my eating again and am drinking water/chain vaping.

The only negative about it is tons of throat dryness but no worse then when I was smoking. Is that unusual?

Dry throat is perfectly normal, since both PG and VG are hygroscopic. Just drink some more water, and you will be fine.

I chain vape, too, but since I chain smoked as well, I don't see much of a problem there.

If you keep having that feeling you are missing something, it may however indeed be too little nic. It might also be something else - around 20% of all vapers don't get by on vaping alone, but in that case, smokeless tobacco usually does the trick, and rather little of it, too, for most.
Try upping your nic first, though - 12mg is rather low for a beginner.

When I first tried ecigs in the summer, I got 8mg and 11mg liquid and after a couple weeks of chain vaping, I went back to analogs. Because of the low nic and chain vaping, I was refilling all the time and it became way too much of a chore and I wasn't feeling that buzz I was looking for.

This time around, I have gotten some 18mg juice and it is like night and day. Today's my first day w/o analogs and the 18mg seems to be just enough to kill my cravings. I need about 10-12 puffs from it (like a smoke) and then I am able to put it down and be satisfied. I think this is also good for the device, as I am using it for a few puffs and then putting it down for at least half an hour to cool down. Gotta be careful with those cartomizers!

Best of luck OP - I think increasing the nic will DEFINITELY help.

Here's another chain vaper!
After going through 30 ml of 6mg in 2 weeks I figured the nicotine level just wasn't cutting it so I switched to 24-26mg; BIG difference!. "Need" to vape about every 2-3 hours now. The rest is just putting down restrictions; vape 5 minutes & put it away.
My downfall is on the pc at night so I bought a USB passthrough, a different color atty and some 0mg liquid. I use back 901's for regular vaping & the white atty only gets the 0mg so I don't have to worry about nicotine OD.

Not been at this game for long, but now i can't stop. Up at 6am, first job is replenish my PV and vape hard and fast for 30 minutes. From there on, it's a continuous topping up, and vaping at a normal speed for the next 14 hours. Since starting a PV, i have never found any Nicotine buzz, maybe that is because i was a hardened pipe smoker and i smoked the pipe with the strongest Nicotine tobacco i could acquire here in the UK. In between my pipes, i would smoke RYO's "Old Holborn" or cigars and have been doing this for over 50 years. My fingers looked like i was wearing yellow gloves:). Here is the good news, Since starting my PV, i have not touched a single analogue or smoked my pipe. My collection of pipe's, have been stashed away in a draw out of sight. It's a great feeling not smoking tobacco after all those years. Still got some slight yellow fingers but it's fading rapidly.
