The one thing that really keeps me from enjoying my mech mods is the fact that it seems like I have to build extremely low resistance coils to get the warm vape I like, which of course drains the battery incredibly fast. I'm just curious if there's something I could do differently to improve my performance with higher resistances. I mainly use 24 and 26g kanthal, building at .5 and lower, best vape I've gotten so far on a mech is from .16 dual coils, which draws pretty close to the max continuous of the batteries I'm using. Does thinner wire help? Single coil or dual coil? Should I get a kick? Would love it if I could get a nice warm vape from coils in .5 to 1.0 ohm range but haven't figured it out yet.

EDIT: Someone suggested I try nichrome because it heats up faster and has a lower resistance, considering I'm trying to raise the resistance of my builds wouldn't this be redundant? Lol.

Nichrome or Gplat heat up faster than kanthal , you might consider 28g and lowering the ID of your coils as well .

    +1
One thing overlooked many times is wire gauge vs reaction time

A mech can't brute force a large amount of heavy wire as you have already noticed

Like suggested a tight dripper will offer a warmer vape.

For me I forfeit number of wraps on a higher gauge wire for fast reaction times. And doing so means the coil gets up to temp fast

I really like ribbon a lot, I use 28g equivalent around .6 in my drippers the vapor gets very warm very fast. If I try to chain vape the Atty is smoldering hot in no time.

Try some different atomizers. There are some very small chamber atomizers with decent air flow that would probably offer a warm vape at 0.5 to 0.8 ohms.

Yeah I agree, there are plenty of reduced chamber atomizers that have very good vapor production and heat with higher resistance builds and single coils.

I've discovered twisted 30g heats up fast. So that's one option.

Another is an RTA. I run my Aqua v2 using dual 28g coils at 0.7 ohm. Same with m UD Aga t-7.

I don't know why, but Erlkonigins vape great on mechs even with a single 28g coil at 1.3 ohm :). If I put that coil in other single coil RTAs I would say its too wimpy.

Just put two tiny stacked coils using 28g wire for 0.64 ohm in a Tilemahos, and its rocking!

Small chamber drippers like the Viscious Ant Cyclone or Divo. Run one tiny microcoil using 27 or 28g wire.
