Somehow, someway, we have got to get the truth about the ingredients in e-liquid out to the public. Here's an article that is basically telling people that they are inhaling de-icer if they use e-cigs because propylene glycol is a de-icer. They don't bother to say a word about all the other things that people use every day that it can also be found in.

Well of course they're going say it's deicer! Where is the sensationalism in telling people the truth? And that comment the nurse, Mary Lu, makes about "regular air". Is that the scientific term for our atmosphere? Just another putz in the wonderful world of medicine. I'd love to be able to rebut the article but that should be done by someone more articulate than myself.

Anyone who studies marketing will tell you this:

The accusation has greater influence than the truth. Here is an example. Lets say your favorite news paper published a story about your president / prime minister that he/she was having an affair. Lets imagine for a minute the whole article was completely untrue. However most of the public would read it. The next day/week the same paper publishes a lesser important article stating that the affair was completely false, and nothing happened. A logical man might think, oh well the public will read the follow up and the person would be completely vindicated. Not the case. It doesn't matter what bull-dust gets published. People lately read the headlines and spread that as "truth". When they can't prove something, they'll think "No smoke without fire, something must be up"

The problem is marketing companies have figured out how people think, how the brain works as a tool. How it processes and stores information, and importantly how it recalls information.

For example: Assume you know nothing of a certain country called XYZ, now lets say you watch just 1 documentary on, for example the AIDS crisis in that country. A week or 2 after watching this documentary, if you were in a conversation and someone mentioned this XYZ country, your brain would immediately recall the AIDS crisis in that country. Any positive achievements that may be going on in this country would be over shadowed by your prejudice from that documentary.

Same is true about vaping. People hear "anti-freeze" from one dodgy test, everytime they think E-Cig, they think Anti-freeze. But word of mouth will prevail. More and more people are starting to vape, and in the spirit of twisted sister - we aint gonna take it anymore!

Lastly - remember the so called Swine Flu crisis? You would think people would learn their lesson, and stop trusting main stream media, but no. Suddenly that just disappeared off the news and everyone just forgets, continuing to trust news media, I guess it's because everyone wants to feel normal. I stopped trusting news media such as CNN a long time ago, I had a friend who was originally from Bosnia during the 90's whose father was a dentist, he joined our school, and he was completely shocked by what CNN were reporting, he told me its completely false. If you want some food for thought read this, my take on Swine Flu: What’s up with Swine Flu H1N1 « Michael’s Techbox

Nice article Michael, I researched a little bit about the H1N1 flu when all the hype was going on about it. Funny thing is that quite a few of my friends and family did get it and a few had to go get IV drips because of dehydration, none died, lol! I just figured it was a bad case of the flu and was more concerned about what they were putting into the vaccine and it's long term effects on the masses of people receiving it...yup, it is frustrating but it's just too dang much work for people to study for themselves and much easier to believe the BS being shoveled at them. It's a dangerous road to believe the media these days, they have so much to gain for "their" spin and we have an awful lot to loose :(.

Excellent article Elaine and Thank You for posting it. This insidious and subversive abuse of the legal system and governmental/judicial power has been destroying this country for decades and is a main contributor to the ever-declining public trust and faith in our system of government as well as the judicial system. AG Brown needs to be called to account for this, which is nothing short of governmental bullying and "legalized extortion."

Lest we forget the mantra of the media is "If it bleeds, it leads".

There is very common blood thinner called Warfarin (Coumadin). It's used in every hospital, everyday and by many people at home. You know what else Warfarin is used in?

It's a potent rat poison and is still used to this day for that purpose. And nitroglycerin medicine...and nitroglycerin the explosive are chemically the same in terms of active ingredient. However...you will never be able to explain to the author's of these various articles that they need to learn a little chemistry before they open their mouths and allow excrement to fall forth. A pox on them....

FDA says: "E-Cigarettes have not been tested as safe."
I say: Neither has the air I breath, but I'm not too worried. Show me how unsafe they are compared to the cigarettes I smoked for 20+ years and I might listen.

FDA says: "We found carcinogens in them!"
I say: At what levels? You fail to note this. Bacon has carcinogens in it but I'm more likely to die from clogged arteries then the levels of carciogens in it!"

FDA says: "E-Cigarettes target children because they are sold in malls and on the Internet where teenagers hang out."
I say: Excuss me, but teenagers aren't the only ones in malls and on the internet."

FDA says: "E-Cigs target children with their flavors like Cherry, Peach and Chocolate."
I say: Children aren't the only people who like things that taste good.

FDA says: "E-Cig are unregulated and therefore they are targeting under aged kids."
I say: Aren't you the guys that do the regulating? BTW Kids should not have the legal right to use e-cigs.... for the same reason we do not let them vote. That's why 18 is the legal smoking age... it's the age of legal adulthood. AKA the age you can make your own choices from rated R movies, going into the army, going to jail. etc.

What happened to the are constitutional right to the pursuit of happiness in this country?

I also posted a comment on the article page... and think it is sad that there is no fact checking in the media anymore...
I couldn't agree more. FDA says it has carcinogens in it but I've never heard anyone report the amounts compared to cigarettes and no news media has asked.
It's like saying, "We found water in the hull of your boat." Hmmmm, OK, how much water? A cups worth or 3ft worth? It makes all the difference in the world.

Everyone knows cigarettes contain deadly levels of carcinogens and the FDA doesn't seem to care about that.
If they could save 1 life out of the 300,000 americans that die from smoking each year… wouldn't that be enough reason to have an open mind about e-cigarettes?
Have you ever heard them say vaping is worst then cigarettes? If it's 5% better, isn't that worth getting off our backs!
The FDA is going to end up killing millions of smokers with this propaganda attack on e-cigs.
