Titanium build, dark wick

Hello! I have been a vapor for many years, but always with kanthal. I bought Grade 1 Ti wire, 26G. I installed a sweet dual coil setup that was vaping like a champ, but around 4 hours later my wick was dark (VERY dark) while my kanthal builds (same RDA and juice) the wicks stay white for about a week, sometimes week and a half. Is this normal? Is this just a thing with Ti? Or am I doing something wrong. To get a few knee jerk reactions out of the way, I cleaned the wire prior to building, didn't wash the deck but there was minimal residue and the wicking material, rda, mod and juice are all the same. Thoughts?

What kind of power levels are we looking at.. I'm thinking it has something to do with the differences in how the 2 wires heat and cool and potentially temps they are being run at.

500 degrees, 130 watts. On the reuleaux rx200,it has a Ti setting.

500 degrees is kinda hot if there any sugars present in your juice. Will be sure to caramelize, ie darken, your juice. Maybe you are just over cooking it.

What was your typical Kanthal build and power level?

I know little to nothing about TC, so my questions are partly for my education. So it might be helpfull to compare Kanthal specs and results to the TC data. Like my answer about the temp above, I was relating it to Cooking/caramelizing sugar to make candy and such. Which is done at much lower temps than you are vaping

Dual coil, parallel 24g at 6 (or so) wraps. Typically run at 90-105 watts, also I'm a chain vaper.

You don't get burnt hit? I limit mine to 25w at most with max of 2 sec inhale.

I tried once which I accidentally set it to 75w. I tasted burnt less than a sec...

What does your build ohm out at? Mine is .17 ohms.

i did one which is 0.1 and was firing at 25W, it got burnt!!!

Mine won't even FIRE at 25 watts. 65 or more, or no vape to speak of. Are you using enough wick?

yes it is wicked properly.

at 0.16, it fire up nicely.
temperature i set at 240 deg C.

Maybe it is due to the temperature that you had set?

65W is extreme high

Wait, are you using ti? I was talking kanthal, maybe that's where the confusion is. I am building a new ti build sometime soon, just need more time.

If you build your kanthal down to .17 25w will not be enough. The ti,well, I'm building a new ti build tomorrow and trying it at much lower temps.

Oh... The lower the resistance, the higher power is required to heat up the coil. I got it. Ohm's law. Haha. Back to fundamental.
