Very true about nickel. I have a saber touch and it takes a long long time to tarnish, but suddenly its old and beaten up looking, wipe it down with the special felt they sent and bright as new.
I hear that the GGTS nickel plated for some has actually peeled off and pitted up because of the chemistry some people have.
My Girlfriend has an allergic type reaction to "yellow" gold, and therefore, she can't wear it. So, I immediately start thinking about how much money I'm gonna be savin' at the jewelry store. heh, heh.... I couldn't have been more wrong.
Well..for all you younger folks out there... it turns out that you can also get your diamonds mounted in what they call "white gold".
This is "regular gold" with a Rhodium plating process probably similar to what David uses on his
mods.
For most people, this plating takes years for this plating to wear off. The chemicals found "my baby's" skin will "eat" this plating off her rings in 3 to 6 months!
It's kind of a pain to get them "restored" so often. So, I've been looking into "alternative metals", like platinum, palladium, etc. ...hoping to find something a little more "user friendly".
But now, I'm a little concerned about my own safety... Should I place "warning labels" on her?... if so?... where?... how many? Is this going to make her feel "uncomfortable"?
What about personal protection? Is a "hazmat" suit too much?.. not enough? Should I be wearing one also? You know... in case hers comes off.
Sure.. the "costumes" were kinda fun... at first.. and she's being a good sport about everything..
But now, She's telling me the only metals that don't give her a "rash", are used in the production of German luxury cars.
I'm starting to think there's something "funny" going on...
