To all the vapeheads out there that are sick of being associated to cigarette smoking > > > > >

I just started making this post on facebook and I stand behind it.

If you don't know or haven't heard about the crusade to ban e-cigs and all the negative publicity they have recently gotten. It got me thinking about the name "e-cig" and how the name alone associates it to cigarette smoking and the need to abolish the word/term "e-cig" in our industry.

I don't smoke e-cigs.

I vape and I'm proud to be a vapehead!!!

Who's with me on this one?

Many of us are with you on this critical issue. I too wish the word "cig" was not associated with vaping but I'm afraid we are too far down that path to change it.

I would suggest you join and support CASAA, as many of us have. It is our voice to the world. And take every opportunity to understand the latest studies on vaping and educate the uninformed and those being mislead by the liberal media and the ANTZ's.

Click on my signature at the bottom of this post to go to the CASAA web site.

I click and join the support but if we continue to promote and use the work e-cig ourselves we are only hurting the industy, image and the movement going forward.

Well, I am glad you joined CASAA and also want to financially support them (which is really "us"). I personally use the term "personal vaporizer" when explaining vaping to people. Most times they will ask if it is an "e-cig" and I will say yes, but that we prefer the term "vaporizer" since that is how it functions and there is no burning of tobacco, no smoke and no carcinogenetic substances.

Yes, Yes, Yes wv2win,
unfortunately brianlancia, the term e-cig has been stapled on the whole vaping industry from years back, and everyone except vapers, cannot, or will not even look beyond the "smoke". We know there is no "smoke", the "muggles" only see what they want to see. :ohmy:e

It'll work itself out eventually as they become more well known. You can still catch people that don't know what they are, but it's almost to the point where it's general knowledge now. I think once it's completely out of the bag and everyone knows what they are we'll start seeing people refer to them as vaporizers instead. Once the FDA makes a decision (November I believe?) on how to approach them, I think they'll be recognized more readily at least as clearly as a nicotine patch/gum would be by the general public.

It's too late to go back now, and as long as advertisements are working on getting smokers attention, then we're stuck with that mindset. On the flip side, e"cigarette" gets the attention of smokers more easily and this is good.. albeit not ideal-- but more people are enticed to switch over from the stinkies.

Okay, my point on the whole e-cig term thing is, how many of us ex smokers would of ever looked into the world of Vape if was called something else? I doubt I would of tried an e-cig if was called a pvd, because I wanted something that would satisfy my addiction without causing distress, cravings or the need to cheat and go back to lighting up. I found that.

Sometimes I use the pvd term, when asked about my devise, but when asked I usually say that this my friend is a Provari.
