USA. State: Inebriated.
It's unnecessary, and you're likely putting more contaminants into your cotton (unless you're using pure distilled water).

If you're buying Koh Gen Do Japanese Cotton/Rayon/Organic bleach-free cotton, there is no reason to boil it. It's an annoying process and is completely unnecessary (and potentially harmful).

i remember those days when i was out of cigs and/or trying to quit and i just needed a couple of drags, i'd go hunting everywhere for an unfinished .... either in the car ashtray, on the floor, anywhere where i could find just one unfinished cig.
how old was it, i didnt care, who smoked it last, i didnt care, found one and lit up and it tasted like crap and i'd burn right to the filter and even inhaled some of the filter, i didnt care but i got my nic fit out of the way, well for the time being anyways.
i looked and felt like a crack addict but i didnt care, thank god for vaping, now i just look like a vape junkie lol.

Like you never smoked a snipe...I think we've all done it at some point or another, although I did at least try to get them from my own ashtray...

Honestly, I've never done that with cigarettes but to be fair, I was only a 1/2 PAD smoker.

Now, I've been known to do some pretty desperate things with the {other stuff} I've smoked in the past, but I'm not allowed to discuss that here. ;)

Allegedly, ordinary cotton could have hydrogen peroxide or bleach instilled in it. The thought of boiling the cotton removed those substances.

Organic cotton allegedly has no hydrogen peroxide or bleach in it, so no boiling required.
Hydrogen peroxide is not stable, after cotton is dry no peroxide remains in it anyway. So, no need in removing it.
I am not sure that anybody still uses chlorine bleach to process cotton (and it is not stable also).
Something else to remove? Possible.

This.... Bleach is not used on raw cotton, it would destroy it. Hydrogen peroxide is harmless. hell you pour it on open wounds.
