Hi, all. In my research I've seen various vague references to the Kanger ProTank having a second iteration, updated from brass to stainless end pieces and a reduction in any tendency to leak. After copious research, I've found nothing concrete. Has anyone heard of this? If there's a more recent version, I want to get the updated one. Also, if there is an updated ProTank, is there any way to tell the difference from the original one?

I've been an ECF member for over a year, but have posted, I think, only four times. So I'll try to make up for it: I started smoking when I was a kid. I quit a few times - the last time, I relapsed after 3 years. But I haven't smoked analogues since I began vaping a year and two months ago and have had no desire or craving to go back, even under stress. I vape zero nic -- it's always been the behavioral part of smoking and inhaling that I was addicted to. vaping satisfies that just fine, plus the bonus that I'm allowed back in the house now. I do look forward to a setup someday that will require no 'fiddling' and be trouble free. I've been navigating the learning curve as best I can - starting with ZeroCigs (don't even think about it), and the arduous task of trying 20 or more different e-liquids to find one (or a few) I liked. It's going pretty well, now, I went to Echo, which I really liked but it was very hard finding accessories/tanks, etc., that were compatible with it. I'm currently vaping a kGo(Ego-type) w/ a Vivi Nova and diy juice. Am waiting for the two VV's I just ordered (1300 mAh Spinner and 1200 mAh Mega kGo) and planning to get a Kanger ProTank. Looking forward to it. I welcome any ideas you may have. Thanks! ~ Zorg

No - there was a manufacturing change to correct a limited # of tank leaking issues where the glass and top meet. There has also been a packaging change. No more nice cases.
Other than that, the design remains the same and is overall well done.(YMMV)

I still got the nice case without the leak problem!

I regards to the material used for the base check out Phil Busardo's video at the 2:32 minute mark (http:/tasteyourjuice/wordpress/2013/02/28/the-kanger-pro-tank-review - it won't accept the hyperlink for some reason). You can clearly see that it's brass where the air channels were cut in at the base. I was expecting to see that when I got mine, but I didn't. Mine and other's appear to be stainless(?) or whatever it is. So either the material has changed or they cut the air flow channels first and then applied the stainless(?) process to the whole piece afterwards (probably the latter) for the final production run. It was mentioned in someone's video review, but I can't remember whose. So to summarize: Updated - probably not, Tweaked - seems to be.

+1 on crxess in regards to the tank leaking fix. It was a limited run and has been fixed.

In regards to the nice case, I guess it depends on who the supplier is. I have ordered three Kangers 12 days ago and then three more 4 days ago and I am still receiving them with the nice cases (electronicstix.com). The cases are nice, but not necessary. I would gladly pay less, sans the cases.

Side note - If you watch Phil's review he mentions that he is running at 4.6 volts. I tried that and on my set up (Sigelei Telescoping Zmax V3 with Johnson Creek's smoke juice) and it was just a really burnt flavor for me, which is surprising because he is also running a thick juice through them (Boba's Bounty). I find 4.2 volts to be the sweet spot for flavor and vapor. Having said that, I just use VW at around 6.0 to 6.5 watts depending on the juice that I am using at the time.

Just placed an order with them as well. I've been doing research on the ProTank and found that I needed (more like wanted but the same thing) it. And of course everyone I went to was out of stock. Got me 2 kits from them and now waiting to get them and try them out. Hopefully better then the CE5s that come with the Ego Twist.

Yeup, got mine today, they shipped the day I ordered, for 15 bucks cant go wrong, had sticker stating 2013 quality check in reference to OP's question, will most likely order another as now I cant imagine going w/o, so thumbs up for IVape, and the Protank, it is slightly airy but not a big issue, got some coil and wicks but will use the stock way for now and give it a try later, very happy with purchase though
