Another strategy you might consider is keeping some higher-nic juice handy and ready to use for those "difficult moments". Several ECF members have mentioned that they use different levels throughout the day, and when I was having trouble it helped me quite a bit.
I used higher nic 1st thing in the morning, just like I used to chain-smoke 4 or 5 cigarettes with my coffee. After I "caught up", I used my normal level the rest of the day unless I really needed a big hit. I tried to cut down a bit before bed (to reduce my insomnia), but I have to admit that I usually went with nicotine over sleep.
I also kept my PV in my shirt pocket, where my cigarettes used to be. That way, when I automatically went for a cigarette, I found my PV instead. I kept my pack of cigarettes a little less accessible, so I had to make a conscious decision each time I smoked one.
Now that it's been months since my last cigarette, I use the same level of nicotine (almost) all the time.
