My only addition here is seriously look into starting out with maybe an IGO-W and try dripping. The IGO-W rba is fairly cheap and not a lot of hassle. Building coils isn't to hard and kind of fun once you get a couple of failed attempts out of the way. I have found that dripping really delivers the flavors and also allows you to quickly change flavors without to much flavor burn. As for the mod's well I love variable wattage better then variable voltage, I haven't delved into the realm of mechanical mods but have one in a wishlist and debating whether it is a need or a want.

Personally, I am fond of my Reo Grand. It has a juice bottle inside, but then delivers it to the atomizer, so it is like dripping all the time. With only being able to take a few hits every now and again on the bus, dripping will give you more flavor, vapor, and nicotine. The Reo is a bit steep, but in the end, you will spend less money on upkeep and new devices.

This was another setup that I was considering. Something with the bottle inside the box. Of course, have only seen custom mods/RBA's built this way, so I have no idea how to even approach one of these things. I think even remember seeing a pic with a "bottom feeder" of some kind, using an atomizer. Was curious about this one, but couldn't get any more info on it. I could see other advantages of containg the setup inside the box. Would make it more durable against drops and scrapes and all that.

I primarily use pyrex cartotanks. I've found from experience the tanks from IBTanked.com offer the highest quality for the least expense. I currently have over a dozen of these tanks.

For me, cartotanks offer the most flavor and consistancy over any clearotank made. I use mostly Ikenvape Platinum and 510-Fusion cartos, with Smoktech single coils as a backup.

Hey George, thought I would chime in

Your MVP2 is a big boy toy so if it is working for you I would not replace it

RBA's are quite simple to deal with if you are willing to keep it simple and skip the dual or multi coil builds as these are mainly for cloud chasers and need special attention to batteries and builds

my personal preferred RBA is now the Kayfun lite+ due to its excellent flavor and vapor production with a 2.1 ohm cotton build - very easy to build - Tobeca clones available on ebay for about $40.00

Kanger does have a new tank coming out very soon called the Aerotank - it is basically a dual coil Protank3 with airflow control built into it. It appears to have an MSRP of about $30

In regards to eliquid consumption I started DIY about 2 months in and now have a monthly cost of about $6.50 to vape about 200ml. Initial startup cost was $100 to $150 for all of the supplies needed as in bottles, syringes, flavors, pg, vg, and nic base. Computer programs that compute all your percentages make it even simpler - read through the DIY forums stickies for important info

Lots of people are saying good things about the MVP II, so I'll probably stick with it for awhile. Still not sure about this Pro-Tank though... seems to be hit or miss, and I've heard of bad reviews with this particular combination before.

I've been getting more of an interest in doing some DIY juices. I've become more of a mad scientist in the kitchen lately, so this seems like a natural progression. I don't know yet where to get the tools, much less what I need, and forget ratios and recipes right now. I'm completely virgin on that. Would love to hear you thoughts and notes about it, maybe pick your brain a bit when you've got the time.

reosmods.com Reos are probably one of most popular bottom feeders. Most Reo users use the Reomizer, but you can also use 510 dripping attys. Bottom feeders are unfortunately one of the last things I tried, so now I have all kinds of gear I am not using... Again, they are a bit pricey, but in the end, you won't need much else for upkeep.

I have been thinking of trying a carto-tank, but I use eGos. Would a 650mah eGo be able to handle a carto-tank?
Yes it can. For aesthetics, a slimmer tank would look best on an eGo battery. I recommend the 510 Pro DCTank Combo kit from My Vapor Store for $21. Choose the 3.5 ml tank (it's the slimmer of the two). You will get a pair of metal end caps, a polypropylene tank tube (safe for all flavors of e-liquid, including cinnamon & citrus flavors), your choice of 5 pre-punched cartos, and a drip tip (mouthpiece). I recommend the single coil DCT 2.0 ohm cartomizers. Pick whatever color you wish for the tube.

You may also wish to get an eGo cone cover to put between the tank and your battery for a more flush look.

I've tried CE4's, Evod's, Vivi Novas, Protanks (mini and regular), the Dbox Puritank (meh), my Smoktech RSST (loved it until I sent the bottom insulator down the drain like an idiot) and am now using a Smoktech carto tank and LR carto as part of my car/office setup.

The carto tanks are not as big a hassle or as 'scary' as some people make them out to be, I actually prefer it to the Protanks I used in the past.

Baditude has a carto tank setup thread in his blog that couldn't make it any easier to get going.

All a carto tank does is add juice capacity to a carto and help keep it consistent. The question is whether a 3.3V, 650 mAH eGo can handle a carto, and the answer is yes for a "low resistance" (1.7 - 2.0 Ω) carto. Before investing in a tank, you may want to try an unpunched, untanked carto to see if it supplies enough vapor for you on the eGo.

when i started vaping i had an ego ctwist and a protank 2. After a while i dropped the whole tank idea completely. Yes they are nice because you don't have to do much to them and they hold a lot of fluid, but i started getting into rba's. They blew my mind i get good taste and thick dense clouds. i now have a nemesis mechanical with a dual coil on it and i have a vamo v3 with just a single coil on it. I found it hard to build coils in the beginning but after a while i deeply enjoyed the building process. just watch some videos on it. And if you go into some vape shops they can help you build it. but ya rba's are truly amazing and i live in san diego so it was easy for me to find vape shops to help me out. there are hundreds here. Oh and i make my own fluids to and i find that a single coil rba is perfect for testing new creations. But i think everyone should try rba's, you'll never know if you will like it.. thanks for reading

WOW Baditude! Lotta info to digest there! I like PBusardo's vid though... I've watched a few of them, and I like that he gets so in-depth with whatever he's talking about. Lotsa good useful stuff there. Thanks for your links, too. Solved a lot of questions I had about the cartotank system.

SOMETHING SAFE FOR CINNAMON & CITRUS FLAVORS

Thanks for the link Baditude. I've been looking for a cheapie setup as my next investment. Price looks good, but I also like the fact that I can choose dual coils! Haven't done those yet, so I'm really stoked about that!

I looked into the 510 Pro DCTank (thanks to Baditude for that link), and it looks like a good price point. I like the idea that I can more easily experiment between dual and single coil carts, and the Propylene is on par with my current ProTank. There's even a somewhat decent collection of colors to choose from.
Having said that... I also stumbled onto a review of this same tank by PBusardo. I don't know if this was planned or not, but he did manage to highlight something that I hadn't even thought of with the cartotank set up: separation of the tank from the carto. Juices got everywhere, cue the gratuitous cussing.
Mr. Busardo did also include a couple of cartotanks from a couple of other manu's, and highlighted how they wouldn't separate.
One thing that he does mention however, is that the DCTank is easier to fill up than most standard cartotanks. It's what makes it easier to fill that also leads to potential separation.
Despite all of this, I'm still thinking of giving the DCTank a go. The price is good, it comes with 5 cartos, so I'd be good for quite awhile. Given the propensity for separation, I would just have to take smart precautions when I carry it on the bus with me.
One other thing I considered, is that the video itself is now 2 years old. Maybe SmokTek has worked out those kinks, maybe not.
I think I might just give this tank a go anyway. I feel like it would be a good comparison against my Pro-Tank BCC just to see if the cartotank method really is right for me.

I'm also digging the new Iclear I30s from Innokin. I got an older Iclear 30 with my Itaste, but I hated it with a passion. Had to replace it due to serious leakage, but second tank had same problems. So, I chucked it in the trash. Was kind of disappointed because I had been wanting to try the top coil system, and when it worked, I did like the warmer vape of dual coil. But at $3.50 for replaceable heads, it looks to be a more expensive venture to maintain in the long run. For that matter, the cartotank method will likely generate additional expense, but certainly not at $3.50 for ONE atomizer head every week or so...

Anyway, just some updated thoughts.
