If you are using the adapter that comes with your chuck, it IS adjustable.

If you screw in your adapter to your chuck, the part that faces out has a notch, not unlike something you can put a screwdriver into.

You can play with that, and it is adjustable. You can add/decrease airflow. Give er a try, I had to do that to get proper airflow on my Chuck.

Do your adapter screwing before you screw it into your Chuck! Born is spot on. You basically raise the center piece a fuzz. The carto doesn't screw in as far but it does work.

Also, look at your carto. Can you see the little air holes around the bottom outside edge? Or does the paper wrapping cover and go past them? Just use your finger nail or little implement and push the paper up away from the airholes.

ETA: Here's a link to the adapter adjustment.

Every once in a while, I get a run of carts (usually just one or two) where the center post on the cartomizer is shallow. Possibly because of a thin washer.

I just take a paper clip and **ever so gently** lift up that center post. Not enough to really move it, but it gives it that micromillimeter of leeway you need to make contact.

Do this at your own peril though, because if you get to trigger happy you will screw up the cart.

This is a pretty isolated incident though, and the other suggestions are probably the way to go. This is just in case you got a whacky cart or two.

I didn't get an adapter w/ my chuck. Was I supposed to? and where can i get one now?
It depends on what you want.

If you ordered your Chuck with a 510 connector and all you ever plan to use are 510 atomizers or cartomizers, you don't need one. If you would like to try 808s, 901s or 801s at some point, order them from Jeff. He'll send you the pair for $5 plus $1 postage. (808s and 901s use the same connection as long as it has the air channel the 808s need)

If your Chuck has one of the other connections, Jeff doesn't carry those adapters. mad vapes is just about the cheapest sources ($2.49 each) and you can pick up some extra batteries while you're there. :)

Jeff just started offering 808 connections too. But there are 901 to 808 adapters.

Clouds of Vapor $5.95. 10% discount with "bigbuyer" code. Just ordered soft top cartos from him last night and I got the shipping notice before I went to bed.

Altsmoke $5.95

Good Prophets $3.49

BoxMods $5.99

You're on your own figuring out s&h and discounts.

yup its been about a week since iv switched to cartos, and im loving everything about them,
*before i would carry my PV w/atty and a small bottle of juice, (no spare atty) and the danger i had was if my atty crapped out on me, depending on where i was i wouldnt be able to vape,
** Now i just carry my PV w/carto and a spare full carto, (enough for me since im a light vapor, about 1-1.5ml a day) and i dont have to worry about the carto not working since i have the extra one on me already.

so for being a first time carto user, and about a week later, cartos are by far the best.
