1) how long did you use analogs (normal cigarettes)
Close to 30 years, my goodness that's tough to look at. At least a pack a day, probably closer to a carton a week.
2) How long did it take before you were off them completely and only on Ecigs
I quit about a week before I bought my first e-cig. It was yet another "I'm done with these" gestures that I know would not have stuck. We've all been there before, make it a day, a week or two, and back on them. I had told my brother about e-cigs, and he found a crappy starter kit at a
tobacco shop. We tried it, and it showed promise. I purchased one for myself, took to the Internet, found ECF, asked questions, make some purchases, and have never looked back. So I guess the short answer is day 1.
3) if you haven't quit smoking yet completely, how come?
N/A
4) anyone find themselves doing something 3 months, 6 months a year later being solely on Ecigs they hadnt done in years because of smoking? Bike riding, jogging, hiking, just feeling good..
I definitely feel better overall, but that's tough to measure. I haven't changed my lifestyle at all because suddenly I can breathe better. I guess I was lucky enough to to stop before the real heath problems showed themselves. One thing I can say is that I DO NOT STINK anymore. Nor does my car, my clothing, or my house. I used to go to bed and my smell would really get to me, no longer. Relatives would visit and have to wash everything when they got home, worn or not. Again, no longer.
5) anything else that you found was "better" with using Ecigs overall.
The bank account! Anytime I'm in a store I always check out cigarette prices as I'm leaving. That's a lot of cash. I've always been a big believer in the reward system so I wanted to set aside the cigarette cash. I have been able to put an additional 8 grand into the college fund for my boys in the past 3 years just in cigarette money. I think that's pretty cool.
It certainly does't "just work" for everyone. I've tried to get many people to try these, some do, some don't. They work for some, not others. Like all of the other products out there, I think there has to be a pretty good level of commitment as well. But I've tried them all, and this is head and shoulders above anything else I have tried. I did miss the Chantix boat, but I'm not to disappointed with that.
I can tell you that this is the only product I have used that I can get away with a drink or two (or more) and not immediately want to light up. I know all to well how those two activities are linked.
Also, I didn't have the feared weight gain that keeps many people from trying to quit. In full disclosure, I have put on some weight, but I'm lazy, and like fatty foods. What can I say.
Like I've said, it's been three years, that's over 1000 days, over 30,000 smokes, and 8K.
Definitely worth it. Just keep at it.
