That 2nd link shows that there are only a few additives per brand of theirs.

Exactly.

Altria may have Submitted 100's of Chemical Compounds to the FDA over the Years for all of the Cigarettes that they have Made.

But today, some/many of those Chemical Compounds are not Present in the Cigarettes that they Currently sell.

Not in Any Way defending added Chemical Compounds in Cigarette tobacco. Or defending Cigarette Companies. But when people say that there are _____ Chemicals in Cigarettes, it is Most Times Not True for an Individual Cigarette Brand/Make.

There is evidence that the percentage of additives by weight may have increased in the 1990s, especially the use of sweeteners (which many researchers believe were added to entice younger people to smoke)
Why in the **** would researchers have an opinion on why someone did something?
Since when did "opinion" merge with science?

World spinning, want to get off at the next stop.
The whole thing is clearly FUBAR.

One of the things you learn on this forum is there are plenty of people spending mroe on ECs than they did on cigarettes. Who wouldn't want a few 10s of millions of customers like that? The real kicker with ecigs is they aren't subject to the ginormous conficatory taxes so the amount of manufacturer profit returned per dollar of retail sales can be much much higher than cigarettes. The tobcco companies have to be frantic about how to get a share of the market. Their strengh is a vast distribution system. Their weakness is that system is cash and carry, no speciality retailer assets. Apparently they foolishly agreed not to use their brands on anything but cigarettes. Camel or Maroburo vaping gear would snap heads and get more people into vaping. I don't mind if the tobacco companies want to be in the market so long as that doesn't interfere with what I want to buy. I bet the tobacco companies are genuinely fully commited to the idea that smokers should switch to vaping or they will be when they figure out what products to sell. It's a better business for everybody--well, for everybody except government.

The best thing about that list is the quantities. Nothing in that list of 22 ingredients is at more than half a percent (cocoa and cocoa products). A lot of them are like 0.0001% (a ten-thousandth of a percent). If they weren't there, probably no one would notice them gone.

And in that longer list, the main one is... water, at 15%. Followed by a couple of types of sugar, sucrose and high fructose corn syrup (the bogeyman), and then propylene glycol for "humectant" (to keep it moist).
