Tobacco price elasticity

Apparently the Australian BT&BG duopoly has reached the limits of the price inelasticity and are now backpeddling:

Wondering if vaping has anything to do with it too.

Yup, another Chapmanite suffering from glantzian lunacy. The tobacco Control Cult is full of them. You can easily recognize them from nonsensical statements along the lines: "I saw the Boston Harbor tide charts for this morning, which clearly indicates big tobacco is targeting youth"

Well they show zero or conflicting understanding of the smoking phenomenon with adolescents.

Before, it was all brands, advertised glamour, flavours and convenience that attracted "the youth".

Now it's about owning a machine that after several attempts could produce a paper tube holding together some cheap stinky tobacco of which some will get in your mouth and throat when inhaling.

C'mon which one is the true one. Can't be both.

Yep......... more ANTZ............ it was all over the news down under yesterday. I think people down here are getting a little bit sick of the ANTZ judging from some comments I read. The more they crowd the airwaves with BS the more people see them for what they are ........... STUPID and ignorant.

You do realize it's all false advertising. I diligently smoked for a few decades and got none of the goodies depicted there. I should sue for a refund.

So since Australia has been on such an ANTZ campaign, why would BT not mount a sales campaign. Sounds like what Australia is getting what they Really wanted.
Don't look now but BT here in the US can probably find to fill the void when vaping exits.

Exactly right. If the gov't quashes vaping, then more people will smoke. Period. I know I am very far from the only one who would return to smoking very quickly, if I could not vape. So BT would profit -- it's inescapable.

It's just very unfortunate that the vast majority of ANTZ have their heads so far up their nether orifices that they need a plexiglass bellybutton to see where they're going.

Most of my mates smoke roll your own and they use leather pouches, cig cases are used a lot with tailor made ...... .but because there is nowhere to smoke anymore you dont see much of what might be happening. Cigs are not displayed anywhere at all, they can only use one cash register in the supermarket( which has to be marked for that purpose).....dah de dah de dah.......... its like living in some rogue state with a dictator.......given the chance they will probably institute the death penalty for smoking next
