I was set on the smok Caterpillar, but then I found another website, there is no caterpillar there but a slew of other RDAs, can someone tell me if I'm better off with the caterpillar or one of the ones below?

Tobeco Helios
Tobeco Igo-w V3 (five posts? kinda overkill, i'll prob do single coil most of the time)
Tobeco Nimbus
Tobeco Omega
Tobeco Origen
Tobeco Patriot
Tobeco Quasar
Tobeco Stillare
Tobeco Trident (v1 and v2)

Just by looking at them, the stillare looks the best out of the bunch, that and maybe the origen but its out of stock, so.
Thanks!

Kosliev, I don't know if I just have bad luck or Tobeco has quality issues but both my Origen and Stillare had rust problems from normal use. I didn't leave them in alcohol or water and they both started rusting. hcigar, Infinite and EHPro IMO put out a better product.

As rda's go the Stillare and the Trident have been good to me as well as the Atomic if you don't mind a 19 mm dripper. It produces great flavor, is easy to build and the the AFC allows single coil. ..... but so does the trident.

I hear you, they say stainless but rumor has it stainless doesn't rust. :) No more Tobeco for me but like I said, I might just have bad luck.

I ended up buying and authentic and a Origen clone.

Vivid Smoke has the Origen in stock and a couple of the others listed and their prices are pretty good. Take a look at the Magma too, also a nice dripper with deep wells and I think a little easier to build then the Origen.

The Caterpillar has stainless posts and I guess brass screws. I do like it though. Very easy to build on and I really like the airflow control but it doesn't have a single coil air flow selection and I didn't like the drip tip at all (using an Aerotank drip tip). I also have a Trident V2 clone and that is a great dripper too. Out of the two I get better flavor from the Trident and bigger clouds out of the Caterpillar with the same build (.4 ohm dual coil).

I like both so I'm happy...

I've had my tobeco origen v2 for a few days... Love it, but the center post spins pretty badly. As in before I can get the leads trapped fully badly... There's a way to work around this (Gotta put the 510 connection on the base on a flathead screwdriver and hold it in place while screwing down to trap the leads) but it makes it much harder to build on.

Trident looks good but also tiny as hell, thats why the caterpillar caught my attention, its big, its easy, can hold a lot of cotton etc.

@Btsmokincat
damn SS posts, deck and sleeve? that is admittedly really, really good, did you check with a magnet?
the brass screws are a big turn down but maybe hardware stores carry stainless steel screws of the same size?

its a big stretch, but maybe its possible

Anyone has experience with the EHPro atomic?

I have a couple of them kosliev but they are about the same size as the Trident at 19 MM. The Atomic is a great flavor and vapor machine!

Adjustable AFC, different size air holes and it can be set up for single coil. I'm a big fan of mine and can't name one thing wrong with this dripper.

I would not recommend the trident... The way you gotta trap the leads is a pain, took me 20 minutes to put my coils into the trident once -_- Also the trident I had also had spinning posts... So that wasn't fun. Not to mention I had to wedge apart the slots since the caps had stopped screwing on and I thought they were stripped.

I have a Trident V2 which I love a lot. The thing with the trident is because it's a smaller RDA, the chamber is smaller, which produces great flavor. There are better options for clouds, but if you're after flavor, Trident is great. I would get the Trident V2 design, rather than the V1 design. The V2 has a screw on top cap and an airflow ring that is free spinning. The top cap, when screwed on tight, secures the airflow ring. This makes it really easy to adjust airflow. The V1, the airflow ring is secured by 2 monstrous o-rings. The thing is a pain to adjust! I actually gave away my V1 and got the V2. My V1 clone was a Hcigar. My V2, I'm unsure of the manufacturer, but I think it's the same as the Fasttech version.

With regards to stainless steel and rust, I have to tell you, ALL steel rusts. Stainless steel is more like rust resistant, not rust proof. All steel has a certain amount of iron and carbon (what makes steel strong, but also rusts). The common types of steels that clones use are 303 and 304. The high end RDA's use 316 a lot. The all have the similar amounts of the elements that make it rust resistant (chromium, nickel, and manganese). What actually sets the, apart are the other aspects of the steel making process. 316 is a stronger steel, it's typically what is used for ball bearings. 303 and 304 are softer steels, typically used for ornamental things. That's the difference.
