I can't believe how time has flown here at ECF. This afternoon I realized it is my One Year anniversary of quitting cigarettes!
I quit smoking because my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. I didn't quit right away. That story is here on this thread (post #5): http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/thag-built-chuck/33549-ms-fog-log-round-2-a.html (BTW, a big thanks to JeffakaMax at ThagBuilt/The Chuck for my first battery mod in the contest in the above link. The Fog Log changed vaping for me!)
Was the past year easy? Hell no, but certainly much easier than trying to go cold turkey or use one of those crummy NRT programs (been there with losenges, gum and Welbutrin... all failed).
Did I slip and fall off the wagon? Sure. I was happy vaping but something was wrong/missing and it was making me miserable. Thanks to DVap, exogenesis, kinabaloo, olderthandirt, Twisted Victor, The Wiz and others for the great info. on nicotine and Smokeless Tobacco (Snus for me). Figuring out that MAOIs can be a problem for some of us who quit was huge for me. The posts everyone has made in those sub-forums saved me during a rough patch a few months ago and got me back on track (and gave me my happy back). Yay!
I'm back up to 18mg, using snus (when I have the need) and plan to stay on this path. It's been working great. Thanks to ThatBuilt, Halo, TastyVapor, ECigSupply, ElectronicAsh, EastMall, MadVapes, AromaEliquids, WetYourStick and a host of other suppliers here on ECF who have helped to fill my 'handbasket" with great products while providing wonderful customer service.
Also big thanks to the people who were on this forum when I first started lurking and reading (12/008) and to those who answered my questions back in February of 2009 when I joined. You'll never know how much your posts and information means to me. I think you all saved my life. The list of names would be much longer than you really want to read, and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to remember all the people that should be included, so I won't even try to list them at all. So I thank you for continuing to contribute to ECF and help others here. I still learn something new almost every day here. Also thanks for the fun and epic threads that made me LMAO like this one: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...es-change-light-bulb.html?highlight=lightbulb . I love this forum and all of you.
Also Happy One Year Quit Day to Woodslady1 (who I met on this forum back in August 25 of 2009. We've been friends for 7 months. We have much in common, including the same date that we quit smoking! She has become a treasured friend and I'm lucky that she wants to talk to me every day (we Skype) and cares for me. Thanks Judy for your support and freiendship and congrats on your year. I'm so lucky to have you in my life and have you for a friend Woody!!
So, if you are new to ECF and happen to read this, I hope you know that there are many people here who truly care that you use e-cigs well and succeed. They are more than willing to take the time to read your posts and answer any question or concerns about vaping and (if you want to) about quitting. Even if you don't totally quit, know that every cigarette avoided is a victory and a huge deal. I hope you take great pride in each one and each day.
Now I'm going to go have a nice glass of wine and toast myself and all of you! To a long smoke free life for us all!! Thank you ECF.
Cheers!

Hellen
(p.s. I just had a virus and had to reloaded my computer OS software back to square one, just getting back on line so I don't have a forum spell check installed yet, so pardon the typos and spelling errors!!)
