Ahhhh.........1 year. 365 days. Quit smoking August 22, 2010 and I have not touched or smoked a cigarette since that day.

vaping changed every aspect of my life. My garage now smells like a garage. My car smells like my Scentsy spray, not stale smoke Scentsy spray. I spent way less time in my winter coat due to not hanging out by the ashtray in piles of snow and 20 degree weather. My teeth bleach kit has kept my teeth white. I no longer have to hear my niece beg me to quit smoking. My hair and clothes smell like my Dior perfume, not nasty smoke.

I have only had 1 sinus infection since I gave up analogs. I used to get sick every 2-3 months. I have no more cough. The hacky phlegm that always lived in my throat was gone within 2 months of quitting. I have so much more time!!!!! I realized how much time I spent taking a "10 minute break". Now I just keep on keepin' on and do not have to stop and go outside. Makes most tasks finished in way less time. Food tastes better. My dog's poop smells worse. lol I am less jittery. I no longer check my watch wondering if it is ok to sneak a smoke break, or dreading how long it has been since I stepped outside. My designated "mixing" corner of my kitchen looks like a chemistry experiment with my DIY syringes and goodies.

Hitting the 1 year mark is kind of bittersweet. Marlboro used to be my best friend. I started when I was 16, and quit when I was 33. I did not know how to deal with adult stressors without a cigarette. Well, I have learned this year. In this year of non-smoking status, I have graduated with my bachelors degree in nursing, looked down the stressful barrel of a gun known as NCLEX-RN (the nursing licensure exam), dealt with a horrible job hunt in a very down nursing economy. Survived family illnesses, coping with a grandparent that had to leave her home of 53 years because she just couldn't stay alone anymore. Dealt with being disowned by my best friend in the entire world (she has mental health issues), laughed and cried with my fellow classmate when she found out she was pregnant and then lost the baby. I realized really quickly that my new non-smoking life taught me how to cope in more positive ways. I am less cranky and more calm when I argue with the husband. I am more rational.

I started at 18mg nic and I settled in for the long haul at 6mg. I will probably vape it forever! Me, REO Mini, DIY strawberry 6mg. That is my new life. New normal. The new me. Happy 1 year anniversary, and I am giving myself a pat on the back for loving myself enough to give up the cigarette habit and loving my friends, family, and husband enough to ensure that I am around for many years to come.

Here's to many more analog free years! :vapor:

Thank you everyone!!!!!! I would have never reached this milestone without the friendship and comraderie of this forum. Everyone has helped me troubleshoot hardware problems, suggested new mods, and taught me how to DIY. ECF is wonderful!

To everyone that is just starting out, keep the faith. There were trying days during this year.......but the longer you go without smoking the easier it gets.

Vape on!! :)
