Hello all, new of course, but have some old (some maybe stupid) questions. But I am interested in getting my first kit. And did extensive research w/ minimal results.

I am looking for a good quality (if such a thing) e-cig, that emits good vapor (I know the 510), and a decent to great "throat/lung hit"

I have looked in the following so far, and hope some responses are from users of these:

Green Smoke
Luci
Red Dragon
Dragon M401
Blu (whenever they get back in stock, who knows... 10 yrs maybe)
njoy (Kinda looked cheap to me, and cartridges looked cheaply made)

Thanks for your replies , but if it has to come to it, I might try the 510, I prefer a 2 piece system w/ the atomizer built in the cart. Heard horror stories of crap atomizers. The screwdriver is out of the question (for now)

No comments on the models listed but I'd add on to the "that emits good vapor (I know the 510), and a decent to great "throat/lung hit".... (I know the 510) because for the non-mod cigarette style it's one of the best.

Also the "stories about crap atomizers" isn't peculiar to any particular model and if the combo cart/atomizer goes bad you lose both, not just the atty.

Hi Jay welcome to the forum. There is never a bad question - sometimes people just get tired of responding to the same form of questions ;)
Unfortunately I have not tried any of the e-cigs (PVs) you have listed but do use both the 510/Yeti and the Dse901 both of which I love for different reasons - the 510 has great vapor and a stronger "throat hit" the 901 gives more flavor - My mood dictates which one I use.
There is a review section where you can probably find all the answers and then some to any questions about a device you may have. Keep in mind that just as there are many brands of cigarettes there are many brands of personal vaporizers due to the fact that no one person is the same in their likes and dislikes.
Best of Luck in this new adventure!

Hey man well at least you are doing research. Many others impulse buy and buy a crap one.

I would suggest as a beginner the RN4081 Super Mini Cig. You can find online where you can buy 2 of them with complete batteries and atomizers for $46.

I bought mine from The Indoor Cigarette Home Page. The guy has pretty good customer service and they replaced bad atty's I received from them (ordered a few times).

IMO, I think the RN4081 has the throat hit capacity and the feel of a real analog. I have yet to try the 510 though.

I'll comment on the ones I actually own.
The DSE901 is a pen style. Good throat hit.
The M401 is a mini, with good throat hit.
The NJOY NPRO is a RN4081 with good throat it.

All have average life.

The 510 manual is also a good hitter, but actually, the 510 is basically a RN4081 with a one hour battery. The manual batts are nice, but you just have to have a few more on hand.

I own them all, use them all, and like them all. No problems with any of them.

A 510 is a RN4081 with a one hour battery life?
I think thats a bit simplistic.

My Npro (RN4081) was more of a pain to top off (and easier to get that pleasant juice taste in your mouth than a 510 due to the inner/outer cart design),the cart size is a cruel joke, the auto switch would stick open, auto cutoff on the battery was fun,you run the risk of juice getting into your battery causing damage, and you get to mess with "primer puffs".
But other than that, yeah its like a 510 with longer battery life!
Buy a PCC or carry 2 extra batteries with you = 510 problem solved

My Npro was actually good for dripping and had good battery life, but thats about it.

Quick replies, thanks ! I know NOT to try smoking everywhere, and some others. On top of "hits" and vapor, I like durable construction, and lifelike feel. I looked up what you guys suggested, and looked like an actual cigarette. The Dragon M401 looks sleek, and as you said, delivers a good hit. So does the RN4081. Luci looks sleek too, but cannot find user comments on the forum.

You sound like me when I bought my Npro.I wanted somthing that looked like a cig.
Then once you use one a while, you seek out somthing that performs good.
I prefer a model now that doesnt try too hard to look like a real one.
Because most ive come across that do,have too many compromises.
Look up some of the "professional" models around here. They look more like futuristic musical instruments than cigarettes..... But they ROCK!

As I said, I have both. I've *never* had a problem with any of my auto batteries. Never "primer" puffed. I just take long deep drags, and learned when the cutoff will happen. That includes my 4081 / 401 / 901 / Kiss box.

I don't get mouthfulls of juice, and now there are double size carts for the 4081.

Today, I started with my 4081 at 6:00am, and went to work. Used it during breaks, and vaped all the way back to the hotel at 3:30pm with the same battery. My 510 manual has never lasted more than an hour and a half. And basically, I carry a few 4081 spare batts, so I don't need a PCC.

Oops, the DSE "801" is a penstyle, not the 901.

I got better with my Npro for filling carts to avoid the "taste",but a novice topping off is liable to experience it IMO.
The double carts were not out when I still used mine, so i cant comment on them.
My batteries would decide at times to come on by themselves in my pocket. faulty batteries? I dont know, but my sister in laws would supernova too on occasion (and it wasnt the self cleaning feature).

I wanted somthing that gave me consistant performance, was ez to fill/top off, lasted a while once you did fill it/top off,and I didnt have to sweat alot over it in my pocket turning on by itself.
Thats worth a admitted short battery life to me.

If you are able to read/search this forum on threads about throat hit, you will find that the vast majority do not share the opinion that the super mini's like the 4081, 401, 402 have great throat hit or battery life. They are probably fine if you are a very light vaper/smoker who hits the thing once every 30-45 minutes. Since I and many other members have used all of these size devices as well as the devices that truely do give good to great throat hit and battery life, I know the difference. For one, with the super mini auto switch PV's you CANNOT drip at all with them. They will get liquid in the auto switch, gum it up and stop working. If you happen to put a little too much liquid in the cart, you will get liquid in the auto switch and it will gum up.

Now, from a purely scientific/electric standpoint, it is impossible to get the same good throat hit or battery life with an auto switch device as you can with a 5 or 6 volt, 750+ mAh manual switch device. The laws of science and electricity dictate otherwise. The super mini's also have a cut-off of the power to the device if you inhale more than a few seconds.

If you look at the number of members who recommend/use the Prodigy, GG, Janty Stick or 510 in comparison to the SmokeEverywhere, Njoy, Blu, 4081, etc there is a reason it is so lopsided in favor of the first over the second.

Note: the 510 does have a short battery life. But with the PCC, it makes up for that short-coming.

I can agree. I've just been comparing the two of them lately, and with the exception of a few minor differences, they're brothers. Now they have the double cart for the 4081. The last thing they need is a 4081 manual battery. When that comes along, I don't see the difference in preferring either one over the other.

When I'm at home, I use my 401 passthrough. Great hit, & vapor.

I used my 4081 all day today. Now, I'm sitting at the puter in the hotel with the passthrough. In a few hours, I'll lay down with my 510 to watch TV. And I know, I'll get the same hit & vapor with all of them.

Love em all:thumbs:

Heh, it can be confusing starting out :).

Get a 510 kit and a bottle or two of juice and you won't be disappointed. I have been using my 510 for almost 2 months and have not had any problems with the atomizers or batteries. Get a kit from Rocky Mountain Vapor. They have the lowest prices of any US supplier I have seen and the shipping is free and fast.

Hi Jay
I'm not a salesman but I have tried enough of these to know.
I buy from EastMall.net because I like their reliability and prices.
They also have a good sale on liquid for filling and topping off carts.
And they only charge $15 shipping no matter how large your order.
Your choice should be one of these, DSE801 $39.95 , DSE901 $39.95 and many say the 510 $39.95 is good too.
I like the 901 $39.95 but I think the 801 is a little better.
If you want big smoke then the Lady Pipe is great and uses the 801 cartridge or the larger E-pipe $75 which has the greatest smoke.
